⚔️ Early in January, 1942, the Battle of Rzhev, one of the most massive, brutal and lasting battles of , commenced.

In historical terms the was a series of the offensive operations carried out by the Red Army in 1942-1943 with the aim of eliminating the Wehrmacht troops in the Rzhev-Vyazma theatre of operations 150 kilometres away from Moscow.

The battle lasted for 14 months with the fighting having taken place near the city of as well as in the Moscow, Tula, Kalinin, and Smolensk regions.

In December 1941, the Red Army, having pushed the N***s back tens of kilometres from the Soviet capital during a counter-offensive outside Moscow, launched a general offensive, advancing westward along the entire front line. Early in January, the city of Kalinin (now Tver) was liberated from N**i occupation.

⚔️ On January 8, 1942, the forces of the Western and Kalinin fronts of the Red Army launched the Rzhev-Vyazma operation. Their respective commanders, Ivan Konev and Georgy Zhukov, were tasked with an important mission — to tie down and neutralise the main forces of the German Wermacht Group 'Centre', preventing the N***s from gaining a foothold in the occupied area near Moscow.

The Red Army engaged the enemy who had superior numbers in both artillery and armoured vehicles under harsh weather conditions. It was freezing cold, with up to 60 cm of snow in the field, and 90-100 cm of snow in the forests.

In January 1942, combat began on the outskirts of Rzhev. The retreating Wehrmacht units fiercely resisted the Red Army's assault. The N***s had turned the city of Rzhev and the 'Rzhev salient' into a fortified area called Rzhev-Vyazma bridgehead, which the N***s could use for another offensive on Moscow. The command of the Third Reich viewed this 'salient' as a gateway to the Soviet Capital. However, the Red Army managed to tie down up to two-thirds of the N**i Army Group 'Centre' troops near Rzhev.

The N***s concentrated a formidable force in the Rzhev-Vyazma theatre of operations — over 1,5 mln soldiers & officers, some 13'000 guns, and 1'100 tanks — tremendous power that was supposed to crush the Red Army near Rzhev. By doing that, the N***s, however, failed to use the units of the Army Group 'Centre' on other theatres of the Soviet-German front — in the Caucasus or at Stalingrad.

In addition to the January-April 1942 offensive in the Rzhev theatre, the Soviet command carried out the three more operations in the same area: the Rzhev–Sychyovka offensive in July-August 1942, Operation 'Mars' in November- December 1942 and the March offensive of 1943. Finally, by the end of March, 1943, the Rzhev-Vyazma bridgehead of the N**i troops was eliminated.

🎖 Rzhev was liberated on March 3, 1943, after days of fierce combat. The N**i Army Group 'Centre' sustained significant losses. Thanks to the Soviet soldiers’ courage and heroism, the Red Army not only disrupted the redeployment of the N**i troops at Stalingrad, but also crushed the most combat-ready N**i divisions.

The victory at the Battle of Rzhev resulted in the liberation of significant territories of the , which had been under N**i occupation since autumn of 1941. The frontline was moved another 130 to 160 km further away from Moscow. In addition to Rzhev, the Soviet forces liberated Gzhatsk, Sychyovka, Bely, and Vyazma.

🕯 The heroism of the Red Army soldiers who perished near Rzhev will always be remembered.

According to various estimates, more than a million Soviet soldiers fell in that battle, sacrificing their lives for the sake of victory.

In 2007, for the courage, resilience and mass heroism shown by the defenders of Rzhev in the fight for the freedom and independence of Motherland, the city of Rzhev was awarded the title of City of Military Glory by a respective Presidential Executive Order.

In 2020, President of Russia Vladimir Putin attended a ceremony to unveil the Rzhev Memorial with a 25-metre bronze statue of a Soviet soldier in the centre on a ten-metre mound hill.

☦️ President of Russia Vladimir Putin congratulated all Orthodox Christians and all Russians celebrating Christmas.

The message reads, in part:

✉️ “This bright, much-awaited holiday is dear to millions of people all over the world. It gives believers joy and hope and inspires good thoughts, deeds and actions. During the Christmas season we clearly feel with all our heart how important for us are parental, family traditions that are being handed down from generation to generation.

I should say that the Russian Orthodox Church and other Christian denominations in Russia play a tremendous creative role in uniting the people and in preserving our historical memory and unique cultural and spiritual heritage. Religious organisations make a meaningful contribution to strengthening the institution of the family, to educating young people and to affirming in society such intransient moral ideals and values as caring for one's neighbour, mercy and compassion, and support for those in need of help and attention. This multifaceted and much needed work deserves most profound recognition.

I wish Orthodox Christians and all Russian citizens celebrating Christmas good health and wellbeing.”

⚡️ Comment by Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova on the drone attack in the DPR killing a Russian journalist and wounding his colleagues

On January 4, Izvestiya newspaper freelance correspondent Alexander Martemyanov was killed in a targeted drone attack by the Kiev regime militants, which also left at least another four Russian journalists wounded to varying degrees of severity, including RIA Novosti reporters Mikhail Kevkhiev and Maxim Romanenko.

A vehicle carrying a team of war correspondents was heading back to Donetsk after filming the effects of the shelling of civilian facilities in Gorlovka by Ukrainian neo-N***s when it was hit by a kamikaze drone loaded with explosives. The tragedy occurred far from the line of contact. The media representatives were intentionally selected as targets for a deadly attack, which is also evidenced by the testimonies of its survivors.

▪️ We express our deep condolences to Alexander Martemyanov’s family and friends, the editorial staff of the Izvestiya Multimedia Information Centre, and all his colleagues who are currently performing their professional duty in the zone of the special military operation. We wish a speedy recovery to those wounded in this atrocious terrorist attack.

The assassination of Russian journalists is yet another brutal crime in a string of violent atrocities committed by the Zelensky regime, which has openly resorted to terrorist methods to eliminate its ideological opponents. The Kiev clique is accountable for the deaths of countless innocent citizens, people of civilian professions, including journalists and war correspondents who became victims of intentional attacks carried out as part of the terror campaign that Bandera inhumane followers unleashed against Russia’s civilian population as well as their own nation.

The idea of the total impunity and permissiveness that the Ukrobanderite murderers of unarmed journalists revel in stems directly from the policy pursued by relevant international bodies such as the OHCHR, UNESCO and the OSCE, which have chosen to intentionally ignore the Kiev regime’s crimes.

This politically biased stance by multilateral institutions has peaked with a recent draft report (t.me/MFARussia/22596) by UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azoulay on the safety of journalists and the issue of impunity, which failed to mention a single Russian journalist killed by Ukrainian militants. Despite the rejection of approval (t.me/MFARussia/23248) of the report, which grossly distorts the actual situation and is full of statistical manipulations, the UNESCO leadership and its head have yet to take a single step that would indicate a radical revision of this fundamentally flawed and vicious practice. This makes the leader of this global organisation a direct accomplice and instigator of the terrorist attacks.

❗️ We demand that this brutal murder of a Russian war correspondent receive a proper response from Audrey Azoulay in accordance to her mandate. We expect all other human rights organisations and bodies to express a similarly strong denunciation of this horrific act. Attempts to hide behind vague excuses and broad statements cannot be regarded as an adequate response from the relevant authorities; international officials who advocate for human rights must explicitly point to the perpetrators of these killings.

All those responsible for the crime against Russian journalists will be identified and will face a just and inevitable punishment.

🇷🇺🇺🇳 Permanent Mission of the Russian Federation to the UN:

🎙 Statement by Permanent Representative Vassily Nebenzia at a UNSC Briefing on the Situation in the Middle East, including the Palestinian Question

📍New York, January 3, 2025

💬 We are gravely concerned at Israel's continued shelling and bombardment of civilian objects in the Gaza Strip. Every day we receive reports from the north of Gaza that there are repeated air raids against refugee and IDP camps.

Amid the hostilities and the blockade imposed by West Jerusalem, the enclave has become immersed in a genuine humanitarian catastrophe, which is compounded by large-scale hunger, outbreaks of communicable diseases and the total destruction of vital infrastructure. The number of refugees and people repeatedly displaced from one place to another runs into the millions.

***

Unfortunately, Israeli attacks way too often target medical facilities. Furthermore, we have every reason to believe that the Israeli troops, who are hell-bent on inflicting collective punishment on the Gazans, have been systematically and deliberately destroying the enclave's healthcare system, since bombings, shelling, cleansings and arson attacks against medical facilities have become commonplace.

👉 We fully support the WHO's intention to deploy an urgent mission to the north of the enclave in order to transfer critically ill patients to the south of Gaza, where certain minimal conditions remain so far to provide the necessary medical assistance.

❗ We call upon the Israeli authorities to immediately cease hostilities and to provide for normal operation of those few medical facilities that are still capable of receiving patients – these are about 15 out of the 36 hospitals that used to be operational.

***

Suffering of civilians in the Gaza Strip will not stop at least until the end of IDF's ruthless military operation, which is being carried out without any consideration for the opinion of the entire international community.

⚠️ But there will hardly be any prerequisites for that as long as Washington provides political cover for Israel's actions, blocking any relevant steps and initiatives by the UN Security Council and feeding West Jerusalem with weapons that tend to kill civilians in the enclave.

The authorities of West Jerusalem have time and again put forward more and more new conditions for reaching an agreement on a ceasefire and exchange of hostages, rejecting even the dubious scheme enshrined in UNSCR 2735. At the same time, the responsibility for derailing the deal is repeatedly pinned on Hamas.

***

☝️ Russia's position of principle on the Middle East settlement remains unchanged and it is in alignment with the will of the international community.

We have consistently advocated and will continue to advocate an unconditional ceasefire, unfettered humanitarian access, the release of all hostages and forcibly detained persons, and the relaunch of the peace process on the internationally-recognized legal basis at the heart of which lies the principle of “two States for two peoples.”

Naturally, the Israelis do have the right to ensure their own security, but the path to that goal lies exclusively through a comprehensive Middle East settlement and the realization of the Palestinians' legitimate right to have a state of their own within the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

⚡️ Comment by Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova on Ukraine ending Russian gas transit (January 2, 2025)

Kiev has refused to extend the agreements between Russia’s Gazprom and Ukraine’s Naftogaz and Gas Transmission System Operator of Ukraine, which expired on January 1, 2025. The same day, the transit of Russian gas to Europe through the territory of Ukraine was stopped.

☝️ It was the Ukrainian authorities that chose to halt Russian gas supplies to European residents despite the fact that Gazprom was fulfilling its obligations under contracts.

This move to halt the supplies of competitive and environmentally friendly Russian source of energy both diminishes Europe’s economic potential and severely affects the quality of life for European citizens.

❗️ The geopolitical context behind this decision by the Kiev regime is obvious, with the United States being the primary beneficiary of the redistribution of the energy market in Europe as well as the main orchestrator of the Ukrainian crisis.

The major European economy, Germany, has already become the first to fall victim of the US predatory strategy: Germany was forced to purchase natural gas at significantly higher prices following the explosions of the Nord Stream 1 and the Nord Stream 2 pipelines. Germany also had to start closing a number of its major legendary industries.

Now other nations, which were once part of the economically thriving and independent European Union, will also face the consequences of the US 'patronage'.

The responsibility for halting Russian gas supplies lies entirely with the United States, the puppet Kiev regime, and the authorities of European states that preferred providing financial support to the American economy to ensuring well-being of their own citizens.

🗓 In January 1943, the Soviet forces launched an all-out counter-offensive operation in the Battle of Caucasus during the Great Patriotic War.

The North Caucasus with its mountains and woods was a challenging terrain for the military operations that happened there from the summer of 1942 until autumn of 1943. During the Battle, the frontline ranged between 320 to 1,000 kilometres in length and from 400 to 800 kilometres in depth.

Hi**er set an ambitious goal for the N**i Command — to take over the Caucasian oil reserves, an important asset for the N**i war machine, and also deprive the Soviet Union of its key agricultural regions, including the Don, Kuban and Stavropol territories.

The Red Army carried out a series of defensive operations in the summer and autumn of 1942 to prevent the N***s from breaking through the Greater Caucasus Mountain Range and seizing the Grozny and Baku oil producing regions.

The Red Army crushed the enemy’s army which suffered major losses and was unable to advance its positions. In fact, the N**i invaders’ offensive stalled by late 1942, which was also possible due to the encirclement of the Wehrmacht’s troops near Stalingrad.

⚔️ In January 1943, the USSR seized the initiative in the Battle of Caucasus by launching a counter-offensive.

The Red Army eliminated about 275,000 enemy manpower, including by taking over 6,000 prisoners. The N**i 890 tanks, downed over 2,000 planes and 2,000 guns, along with other enemy hardware were destroyed.

The victory of the Red Army in the Battle of Caucasus derailed the German plans to take over the Caucasus as a strategic asset, considering the N***s' intentions to then draw Türkiye into the war against the USSR.

🎖 On January 25, 1943, the medal 'For Defence of the Caucasus' was established in the Soviet Union and it was awarded to those who took part in military operations in the Caucasus and worked on the home front. Overall, 583,000 people received this medal. In February 1943, the Soviet alpinist units threw enemy flags from Mount Elbrus and replaced them with the Soviet banner.

🇷🇺 MAIN FOREIGN POLICY RESULTS IN 2024

Read in full - tinyurl.com/4vvje94f

In the outgoing year, Russian diplomacy made energetic efforts to implement the Concept of the Foreign Policy of the Russian Federation approved by President Vladimir Putin in March 2023.

While the collective West made attempts to preserve the rudiments of its global dominance and impose a “rules-based international order,” Russia proposed a constructive alternative by advocating for the unconditional adherence to the principles of the UN Charter in all their completeness and interconnectedness, including in relation to settling the crisis in Ukraine and other conflicts .

By putting forth new initiatives for Eurasian security and against neocolonialism, Russia provided a new ideological framework for its policy course to enhance its standing on the international arena as one of the leading centres in a multipolar world.

✅ The implementation of the strategic initiative for creating an architecture of indivisible security in Eurasia, presented by the President of Russia in June, has begun.

✅ Bilateral agreements on security guarantees were signed with Belarus and the DPRK, regulating the response in the event of armed aggression against either party. Moscow and Minsk also took practical steps in the field of nuclear weapons as a measure to deter a potential aggressor.

✅ The economic potential of Greater Eurasia was strengthened this year through the promotion of the project to develop the North-South International Transport Corridor.

✅ Russia launched the implementation of the foreign policy initiative on international cooperation in countering neocolonialism.

🤝 President Vladimir Putin’s state visits to Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan confirmed the proximity of our foreign policy approaches, and consolidated promising areas of cooperation, including joint production and logistics projects, in the bilateral agenda.

🤝 President Vladimir Putin’s first-ever state visit to Azerbaijan in August served as evidence of the intensive development of Russia-Azerbaijan bilateral relations.

🤝 The overarching partnership and strategic interaction with China reached a new level following the state visit by President Vladimir Putin to China in May. The People’s Republic of China consolidated its role as Russia’s largest foreign trade partner, as mutual trade reached the equivalent of $240 billion, with 95 percent of payments made in national currencies.

🤝 The special privileged strategic partnership with India received a serious boost thanks to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s official visit to Russia in July, which paved the way for expanding cooperation in finance, investment, transport, energy, science and technology.

🤝 President Vladimir Putin’s state visit to Pyongyang in June opened a new chapter in the cooperation with the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, during which the parties signed the Treaty on Comprehensive Strategic Partnership that set guidelines for deepening mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries on a broad range of issues.

🤝 President Vladimir Putin’s official visits to Vietnam and Mongolia improved the dynamics of the relations with these countries, mainly in energy, transport and industrial production, as well as in large investment projects.

🤩🤩🤩 The Kazan Summit of BRICS became the flagship international event, which, under Russia’s chairmanship, convened for the first time in an expanded format and definitively dispelled the myth of Russia’s international isolation.

Under Russia’s Chairship in the CIS, the development of cooperation in energy, chemical industry, and several other sectors was given a serious boost. The Agreement on Free Trade in Services, Establishment, Operation, and Investment in the CIS entered into effect.

🌍 The First Ministerial Conference of the Russia-Africa Partnership Forum was held in November, where the participating countries detailed plans for the implementation of agreements on advancing Russia’s cooperation with African states across the board

🎙 Comment by Russia's Foreign Ministry Official Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova following the Kiev regime’s terrorist attacks on Russia’s Kherson Region

💬 On December 30, the criminal Kiev regime, aided and abetted by its NATO handlers, perpetrated an atrocious attack on the Central District Hospital in Alyoshki, Kherson Region, Russian Federation, using an unmanned aerial vehicle to pe*****te the Chief Physician’s office. As a result of this tragedy, Deputy Chief Physician for Medical Affairs Vasily Borisov was killed, and the hospital’s Chief Physician Vladimir Kharlan sustained severe shrapnel wounds.

❗️ We strongly condemn this new cynical and brutal crime committed by the Kiev regime, once again exposing its inhumane N**i nature.

The shelling of communities in the Russian regions, the ruthless and indiscriminate murders of civilians – journalists, doctors, and representatives of other civilian professions – are clearly the last struggles of Zelensky’s neo-N**i regime, mired in terrorism, lawlessness, corruption and cynicism, which is striving, in its impotent anger, to please its Western puppeteers by killing as many Russian people as possible.

☝️ The masterminds and perpetrators of this and other crimes of the Kiev regime will be inevitably punished to the full extent of the law.

We call on all responsible foreign governments and relevant international organisations to strongly condemn this brutal terrorist attack and publicly distance themselves from the Kiev regime and its Western curators complicit in such crimes. Keeping silent in response to the unbridled barbarism of the Ukrainian N***s and their puppet masters and accomplices from the “civilised democracies” will amount to admitting to complicity in their evil deeds.
