Amb. Nakajo joined IOM Rwanda for the Disaster Risk Management handover. Lightning protection systems were installed by Japanese firm Otowa. As a disaster-prone country, Japan remains committed to working with Rwanda to strengthen resilience and build safer communities.

The Embassy of Japan and Kigali Marriott, in collaboration with , co-organized Japanese Washoku Culinary Demonstration in Rwanda, bringing together more than 30 chefs to explore the traditions, techniques, and philosophy behind authentic Japanese cuisine.

The program featured an online lecture by Professor Naoyuki Yanagihara, Cultural Exchange Ambassador and Goodwill Ambassador for the Promotion of Japanese Cuisine, who shared fascinating insights into the history, philosophy, and cultural significance of Japanese food.
The program continued with a live demonstration by the Official Chef of the Embassy of Japan in Rwanda, followed by a tasting of freshly prepared sushi, sashimi, and tempura offering participants a firsthand taste of the artistry and balance that define Washoku.

Last month, Ambassador NAKAJO conducted a series of visits to strengthen ties between the City of Kigali and Japanese local governments. During the visits, he met with the mayors of Susami Town and Toyota City, presenting them with souvenirs from the City of Kigali as a symbol of friendship.

On June 1, Ambassador NAKAJO visited Susami Town in Wakayama Prefecture and met with Mayor Iwata. Renowned for its scenic coastline and strong commitment to disaster preparedness, Susami provided an ideal setting for discussions on disaster risk reduction. The meeting focused on learning Susami Town's experiences for disaster preparedness and exploring opportunities to promote exchanges between Kigali and Susami City.

On June 2, the Ambassador visited Toyota City, the birthplace of Toyota Motor Corporation and a global center of innovation and manufacturing excellence. During his meeting with Mayor Ota, Amb. introduced the vibrant economy and efforts to promote sustainability at the City of Kigali and expressed hopes for enhancing municipal cooperation between Japan and Rwanda.

It was a pleasure to visit the HealthTech Hub and UR UNIPOD to learn more about UNDP in Rwanda's Timbuktoo africa initiative, empowering young entrepreneurs to develop and scale innovative solutions. The Timbukutoo Iniative is a project funded by Japan.

We also exchanged ideas on strengthening Japan–Rwanda collaboration in innovation.
