During her visit to Rwanda, IOM Director General Amy Pope met with migrants and beneficiaries supported through IOM programmes and heard first-hand about their experiences.

From building livelihoods and contributing to their communities to rebuilding their lives after difficult migration experiences, their stories reflected resilience, determination and hope for the future.

These conversations are a reminder that migration is ultimately about people. Through the right support, protection and opportunities, migrants can contribute to stronger communities and social and economic transformation. IOM remains committed to ensuring that people are at the centre of migration policies and programmes.

During her visit to Rwanda, IOM Director General Amy Pope met with the Prime Minister and senior Government officials to discuss shared priorities on migration governance, labour mobility, diaspora engagement, youth employment, skills development, regional integration and resilience.​

​The discussions highlighted Rwanda’s continued leadership in integrating migration into national social and economic transformation efforts and advancing policies that expand opportunities for people while supporting economic growth and regional cooperation.​

IOM remains committed to strengthening its partnership with the Government of Rwanda and supporting initiatives that promote safe, orderly and regular migration while contributing to sustainable development and prosperity.

Over the past week, IOM Rwanda was honoured to welcome IOM
Director General Amy Pope during her official visit to Rwanda.​

​Through engagements with Government counterparts,
development partners, the private sector, and migrants supported
by IOM, the visit highlighted Rwanda’s leadership in recognizing
migration as a driver of development and in advancing practical
solutions that create opportunities, strengthen resilience, and
support economic growth.​

​The discussions reinforced a shared commitment to expanding
skills development, youth employment, labour mobility, diaspora
engagement, and protection systems that benefit migrants,
communities, and economies alike.​

IOM remains committed to working alongside the Government of
Rwanda and partners to ensure that migration contributes to
sustainable development and opportunity for all.

Rwanda is demonstrating how well-managed migration can create jobs, build skills and strengthen regional cooperation.

Today IOM Rwanda handed over Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) supplies and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to Rwanda Biomedical Centre (RBC) represented by the Deputy Director General of RBC Ms. Jeanne Umuhire to support nine prioritized Points of Entry across Rwanda.

The donation strengthens frontline readiness and border health capacities, helping Rwanda prevent, detect and respond to public health threats while safeguarding the health of travelers and communities. This is made possible thanks to funding from CDC
