Disability Coordination Forum: Advancing Inclusion in Rwanda

Today, the National Council of Persons with Disabilities (NCPD) is convening the Quarterly Disability Coordination Forum, bringing together key stakeholders from across the disability movement to strengthen coordination and promote inclusive development in Rwanda.
The Forum provides an opportunity to share progress, exchange experiences, and align efforts towards improving the lives of persons with disabilities. Key agenda items include showcasing Community-Based Inclusive Development (CBID) interventions implemented in Kamonyi District, a presentation on the operationalization of Disability Coordination Forum (DCF) subcommittees at the district level, and an overview of NCPD's key priorities for advancing disability inclusion.By fostering collaboration among government institutions, organizations of persons with disabilities, development partners, and other stakeholders, the Forum reinforces the collective commitment to ensuring that persons with disabilities fully participate in and benefit from Rwanda's national development. Together, we continue to build a more inclusive society where no one is left behind.

Inama y’Igihugu y’Abantu bafite Ubumuga (NCPD) ifatanyije n’abafatanyabikorwa bayo basuye Urwibutso rwa Jenoside rwa Nyanza mu Karere ka Kicukiro, bunamira inzirakarengane ziharuhukiye.Iki gikorwa cyabaye umwanya wo kuzirikana by’umwihariko abantu bafite ubumuga bishwe muri Jenoside yakorewe Abatutsi, abayirokotse ikabasigira ubumuga, ndetse n’abakomeje guhangana n’ingaruka zayo kugeza n’uyu munsi. Five-Day Workshop on Developing the GDS 2025 Implementation Roadmap Concluded.

Today, Niyitegeka Jeanpierre, Acting Executive Secretary at NCPD Rwanda, officially closed a five-day workshop dedicated to reviewing Rwanda’s 38 Commitments to Global Disability Summit S2025. The workshop brought together key stakeholders to assess progress made so far and strengthen collaboration toward building a more inclusive society for all. During the closing session, he expressed appreciation to all participants for their active engagement, dedication, and shared commitment throughout the five days of discussions and technical review. He encouraged institutions and partner organizations to continue working together to ensure the effective implementation of these commitments by 2028. Throughout the workshop, stakeholders worked collectively to consolidate a comprehensive roadmap that will guide implementation, monitoring, and reporting on human rights commitments in Rwanda. Special attention was given to advancing the rights and inclusion of Persons with disabilities, ensuring that no one is left behind in national development efforts. Rwanda’s 38 Commitments to GDS2025 cover 11 key areas, including education, employment, health, social protection, accessibility, access to justice, data and statistics, participation in public life, risks and emergencies, and climate change. These commitments are designed to remove systemic barriers, strengthen inclusion, and promote equal participation and opportunities for persons with disabilities across all sectors of society.The workshop marked another important step in reinforcing Rwanda’s vision of an inclusive future where the rights and dignity of every Persons with Disabilities are protected and promoted.
