The stone upon which Sayyiduna Ibrahim عليه السلام stood while raising the foundations of the Ka‘bah is still preserved today within Maqam Ibrahim in the sacred courtyard of the Ka‘bah. By the blessed touch of his feet, the stone became soft, and the impressions of his noble footsteps were miraculously engraved upon it.
And yet, how wondrous is the majesty of RasoolAllah ﷺ, the Beloved of Allah, upon whom Allah bestowed signs of honour unlike any other.
It is narrated that even the stones upon which the blessed feet of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ rested would become soft, bearing the traces of his footsteps. The very earth and stones seemed to recognise the one whom the heavens and the earth honour, the mercy sent for all worlds.
Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah رضي الله عنه narrates:
“When RasoolAllah ﷺ walked upon stones, they would become soft beneath his blessed feet, and the impressions of his footsteps would remain upon them.”
Imagine the beauty of such a miracle: the stones themselves becoming tender beneath the feet of the Beloved ﷺ.
These were not ordinary footsteps. They were the footsteps of the one whom Allah chose as His Beloved ﷺ, the final Messenger, the mercy to all creation. Wherever those blessed feet passed, even lifeless stones bore witness to his extraordinary honour.
How fortunate were those stones that were touched by his blessed feet. How fortunate was the earth that carried him. How fortunate were the places upon which the Messenger of Allah ﷺ walked.
And how fortunate are the hearts that carry love for him.
اللهم صل وسلم وبارك على سيدنا محمد وعلى آله وصحبه أجمعين ﷺ
May Allah fill our hearts with true love and reverence for RasoolAllah ﷺ, grant us the honour of following his blessed Sunnah, and gather us beneath his blessed banner on the Day when we will need his intercession most. آمين يا رب العالمين۔
