📢🏆EXPRESSION OF INTEREST FOR AGRI-BUSINESS COMPETITION.
In partnership with Solomon Islands Government through Ministry of Commerce, Industry, Labour and Immigration (MCILI), Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAL) and Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations Development Program and funding support from the European Union of STODAS program, the ABI Centre Honiara will conduct a BUSINESS INNOVATIVE COMPETITION for agri-business start up in months of JUNE/JULY 2026.

🌐Solomon Islands Advances Special Economic Zone (SEZ) Implementation Through Strategic Mission to Davao City, Philippines.🇸🇧🇵🇭

The Ministry of Commerce, Industry, Labour & Immigration (MCILI) is pleased to inform the public of the Solomon Islands Government’s continued progress in implementing the Special Economic Zones (SEZ) Act 2025 through a high-level strategic mission to Davao City, Philippines.
The delegation, jointly led by the Permanent Secretary of MCILI and the Permanent Secretary of Lands, Housing & Survey, reflects the Government’s strong commitment to advancing SEZs as a national strategy to attract Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), promote industrial growth, create employment, and support long-term economic development.
A key priority of the mission was engagement with the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) and Davao City investment authorities, where the delegation gained practical insights into the development, management, and operation of successful Special Economic Zones.
The delegation also visited industrial parks and economic zones under PEZA in Davao City, gaining firsthand exposure to investment facilitation, SEZ operations, infrastructure planning, regulatory systems, and public-private sector coordination.
The mission provided Solomon Islands officials with practical insights into how Special Economic Zones attract investment, promote exports, and drive economic growth.
The experience gained will support the implementation of the SEZ Act 2025 and the establishment of the Solomon Islands Special Economic Zones Authority (SISEZA).

🌐📝Seminar on Sustainable Development Capacity Building of 📈Special Economic Zone for Solomon Islands Held in Haikou.🇸🇧🇨🇳

From May 13th to June 2nd, the "Seminar on Sustainable Development Capacity Building of Special Economic Zone for Solomon Islands" is being held in Haikou, Hainan Province, China. The event is hosted by the Ministry of Commerce of China and organize by the International Cooperation and Exchange Center of the Department of Commerce of Hainan Province. A total of 24 participants from the Solomon Islands is attending the seminar, including Mr. Riley Henao Mesepitu, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce, Industry, Labour and Immigration of the Solomon Islands.
During the seminar, the participants conduct in-depth field visits to various locations in Hainan, such as the Wenchang Aerospace City State-owned Trading Company, Chunguang Food, Sanya Central Business District, Yazhou Bay Science and Technology City, Nanqiang Village, and the Haikou Jiangdong New Area. They also will travel to Shenzhen's High-tech Park and private enterprises for exchange and study. Through these field surveys and discussions, the seminar aims to share China's successful experiences in industrial park construction and development, assist the Solomon Islands in enhancing their planning and management capabilities for Special Economic Zones, and promote deeper bilateral economic and trade cooperation.
