On 26 March 2026, InfoCom presented its Annual Report 2025 to Vice President Mr Sebastien Pillay, in his capacity as Minister responsible for Information, in accordance with Section 70 of the Access to Information Act 2018.

The Annual Report provides an overview of the Commission’s administration, activities, key achievements and challenges during the reporting period. It reflects the Commission’s work in fulfilling its statutory mandates under the Access to Information Act 2018 and the Data Protection Act 2023.

Present at the meeting were the Chief Information Commissioner, Ms Mumtaz H. Chaka, Information Commissioners Mr Peter Lalande and Mr Egbert Rosalie, and the Chief Executive Officer, Ms Diana Benoit. The meeting provided an opportunity to highlight the progress made by the Commission, as well as ongoing efforts to enhance transparency, accountability and access to information in Seychelles.

Ms Chaka formally presented the Annual Report to Mr Pillay, and Ms Benoit presented the Commission’s Strategic Plan for 2026 to 2028, outlining the Commission’s new vision and strategic priorities aimed at strengthening its role and impact.

The Commission remains committed to strengthening transparency, accountability and the effective implementation of the Access to Information Act 2018 and the Data Protection Act 2023.

InfoCom represented by Ms Diana Benoit, Chief Executive Officer, and Ms Mina Accouche, Information Analyst, together with DICT representatives, Mr Benjamin Choppy, Principal Secretary, and Ms Beryl Payet, Director for Policy, Strategy and Research, met with representatives from the World Bank on 24 March 2026.

The meeting forms part of the World Bank Group’s in-country mission in Seychelles from 23 to 27 March 2026.

The World Bank delegation included Cecilia Paradi-Guilford (Senior Digital Specialist, Eastern and Southern Africa), Elena Gasol Ramos (Global Lead for Digital Regulations), Aditi Kadam (Economist) and Antonio Soares Martins Neto (Economist) and Mukund Krishna Oolun (Consultant).

The meeting focused on recommendations under the draft Country Growth and Jobs report and the findings of the World Bank assessment. Discussions covered the data protection regulatory framework, cross-border data transfer provisions, alignment with the AfCFTA Digital Trade Protocol, and the need for guidelines and awareness campaigns. The meeting also looked at identifying technical assistance needs under the GFPP project preparation grant and priorities for a possible future project.

InfoCom appreciates the engagement and looks forward to continued collaboration to strengthen data protection in Seychelles.

InfoCom Engages with EUROJUST and EU Representatives on Data Protection

On 24 February 2026, Ms Diana Benoit, Chief Executive Officer, and Ms Mumtaz H. Chaka, Chief Information Commissioner of the Information Commission (InfoCom), held a productive meeting with representatives from EUROJUST and the European Union, including José de la Mata (Vice-President and National Member for Spain at EUROJUST), Maria Luisa Troncoso (Team Leader, Strategic Partnerships with Africa and the OACPS, European Commission), Lalita Nosib (Project Manager, Delegation of the European Union to Mauritius and Seychelles), and Florina Bisog (EUROJUST EU and International Affairs Legal Officer).

The discussions were constructive and insightful, with a strong focus on the importance of data protection. The meeting provided a valuable opportunity to exchange views on strengthening cooperation and enhancing understanding of data protection frameworks.

Maria Luisa Troncoso and Lalita Nosib were also identified as key contacts for InfoCom to liaise with on future capacity building and training initiatives.

InfoCom appreciates the valuable insights shared during the meeting and looks forward to continued collaboration with its international partners.

The Information Commission held its Strategic Year-In Review and Planning Meeting on 23 December 2025 at the Savoy Resort and Spa, Beau Vallon. Commissioners, management and staff reflected on achievements in 2025 and agreed on key priorities for 2026.

The programme included a year in review session, workplace psychology discussions and team-building activities, supporting collaboration, communication and a shared direction for the year ahead.
