At 6:35 AM today, Seychelles welcomed the inaugural Air Tanzania Airbus A220 with a ceremonial water cannon salute and ribbon cutting.

Held in the presence of the Minister for Tourism and Culture, Mrs Amanda Bernstein, and the Minister for Transport, Ports, and Civil Aviation, Mrs Veronique Laporte, alongside distinguished guests, this initiative marks a new chapter in regional connectivity.

The new Dar es Salaam–Seychelles route strengthens tourism, trade, and cultural ties bringing our islands closer to Africa and the world.

Tourism Seychelles strengthened its presence in China’s luxury travel market at the D**G Luxury Travel Connection 2026 in Sanya, engaging with leading high-end travel buyers from 40 countries.

Represented by Mr. Jean-Luc Lai-Lam and Mr. Yu Sen, the team held 53 targeted meetings alongside Six Senses Zil Pasyon Seychelles, highlighting Seychelles’ growing portfolio of luxury, wellness, and nature-based experiences.

The engagement reinforced Seychelles’ positioning as a “higher value, lower impact” destination, in line with growing demand for experience-led travel and sustainable luxury.

The Ministry of Tourism and Culture recently hosted Ms. Lisa Singh, United Nations Resident Coordinator for Mauritius and Seychelles, for a courtesy call focused on strengthening collaboration and shared priorities.

The meeting brought together the Minister for Tourism and Culture, Mrs. Amanda Bernstein, Principal Secretary for Tourism, Mrs. Sherin Francis, Principal Secretary for Culture, Ms. Cecile Kalebi, senior members of the Ministry, and Ms. Haajira Jumaye, United Nations Development Coordination Officer for Seychelles.

Discussions centred on advancing sustainable tourism, strengthening economic resilience, and enhancing the role of culture within the tourism experience.

Opportunities for regional collaboration, value chain development, and community engagement were also explored, reflecting a shared commitment to inclusive and sustainable growth.

The development of the Seychelles Cruise Tourism Strategy (2026–2033) has been shaped by a series of engagements, including a final validation workshop at the Savoy Hotel, Mahé, followed by a high-level stakeholder meeting bringing together government, private sector representatives, and international partners, including the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA).

The two-year process has focused on strengthening sustainability, improving infrastructure, and increasing local value from cruise tourism, while balancing its economic, environmental, and social impacts.

The strategy is now being further refined based on inputs from these final engagements, ahead of its submission for government consideration.

The Seychelles Nature Trail is BACK for its 3rd edition; and it’s shaping up to be bigger, bolder, and more breathtaking than ever!

The official launch, led by the Tourism Department representative Bernadette Willemin and the local partners, set the tone for an exciting journey ahead, celebrating strong collaboration and shared passion for nature-based tourism.

And the momentum is real over 100 runners have already signed up!

LOP Réunion and supported by a wide network of partners, including the Seychelles Parks and Gardens Authority (SPGA), the Seychelles Defence Forces (SDF), the National Sports Council (NSC), the District Administration of Grand Anse Mahé, Local Government, the Seychelles Police, the Seychelles Red Cross, the Seychelles Fire and Rescue Services Agency, the The Seychelles Challenge Outward Bound Association (SCOBA), and the Ministry of Health.

The Tourism Department launched its first skills development session on 26 March 2026 at Constance Lemuria Resort (DIVA), bringing together employees from small tourism operators for a focused session on cocktail and wine basics, as well as elegant welcome drinks.

The Department extends its appreciation to lemuria, Alessandro Sgariglia, Sebastian Uzice, and Jay Chawan for delivering insightful and practical sessions, and to the Constance Lemuria team for their support and hospitality in making this initiative possible.

This initiative forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen service standards and enhance the overall guest experience across the tourism sector.

The Tourism Department received a courtesy visit from the High Commissioner of India to Seychelles H.E. Mr. Rohit Rathish, providing an opportunity to strengthen ongoing collaboration in tourism, culture, and capacity building.
