SRC REPRESENTED AT UN REGIONAL WORKSHOP ON THE PRACTICAL APPLICATION OF THE MUTUAL AGREEMENT PROCEDURE (MAP) IN AFRICA,

The Financing for Sustainable Development Office (FSDO) of the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA) hosted a regional workshop on the practical application of the Mutual Agreement Procedure (MAP) in Africa, held from 8 –12 June 2026 in Nairobi, Kenya.

The workshop held, aimed to strengthen knowledge and capacity of participants responsible for supporting competent authorities, in the management of Mutual Agreement Procedure (MAP) cases.

To note that MAP is a dispute resolution mechanism provided under tax treaties that enables competent authorities of contracting states to resolve issues concerning the interpretation and application of treaty provisions, as well as taxpayer concerns relating to treaty implementation.

Participants explored the practical aspects of managing MAP cases, including procedural requirements, information requests, timelines, and the interaction between MAP processes and domestic administrative and judicial frameworks. Discussions also highlighted the growing importance of MAP in addressing increasingly complex international tax matters, particularly those involving cross - border transactions and Transfer Pricing (TP).

SRC was proudly represented at the workshop by Ms. Gency Julienne, Director of the International Tax Unit.

We are getting ready for the launch of the Electronic Certificate of Origin!

The Secretariat members of the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) are already in Seychelles and we are prepping for the national digital transformation.

The Secretariat had the opportunity to engage with the Seychelles Revenue Commission technical team yesterday in an interactive meeting, as part of their engagement ensuring the project delivery is on track and the final touches are being added to the platform.
