Lancement historique aux Seychelles : La langue française au service du développement durable

Aujourd’hui, sous le haut patronage de la Première Dame, S.E. Mme Véronique Herminie, la Ligue pour l'Enseignement du Français aux Seychelles (LEVANTAY) a officiellement lancé un programme jalon. Cette initiative d'envergure bénéficie du soutien de l’Organisation internationale de la Francophonie (OIF) et de l’expertise du cabinet Eve Boande Consulting.

L’objectif principal de ce programme est de former les enseignants de langue française à intégrer directement dans leurs classes les enjeux majeurs du développement durable, tels que le changement climatique, la protection des océans, ainsi que la paix et la citoyenneté mondiale.

À l’agenda de cet événement figurait également l’inauguration officielle d’un groupe de Jeunes Ambassadeurs Francophones. Ces derniers deviendront les voix et les fervents défenseurs de la magnifique biodiversité de notre archipel.

Seychelles to UNESCO: A Massive Step Forward for Our Cultural Heritage!

The Department of Culture, Arts and National Heritage hosted a major Stakeholder Workshop at the ICCS (Room 2) to discuss the official nomination of the iconic Mission Ruins of Venn’s Town for inscription on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The room was packed with researchers, cultural experts, and community leaders all working together toward a historic goal: securing Seychelles' very first Cultural World Heritage site!

Today's session provided vital, front line updates on our national progress. The technical team showcased the incredible groundwork laid so far, including
* Deep-dive historical research and mapping of the 19th-century settlement.
* International technical support aligning the site with strict UNESCO frameworks.
* A clear outline of the immediate next steps leading up to the official international technical evaluation.

Established in 1876, Venn’s Town (Mission Lodge) served as a sanctuary and school for the children of liberated African slaves rescued by the Royal Navy. It stands today as the profound physical cradle of the modern Creole Seychellois identity.

With our two incredible Natural World Heritage sites (Aldabra Atoll and Vallée de Mai) already shining globally, achieving this cultural inscription will firmly cement Seychelles’ rich, resilient history on the world map.
