Sunsets after 6 pm are nature's way of welcoming spring and all its greenery. Humans and horses relish in these hours of extra light and while the temperatures still drop at night all the first signs of warmer seasons are there - the birds are singing, snow and ice give way to bare grounds and the grass is contemplating turning the pastures lushous and green. Anticipation is in the air - we call it pre-spring. That time when nature starts its 6 week transformation from whites,grays and darkness to a summer palate that is almost difficult to visualise until it arrives.

Creating a feeling, a moment in time, a memory for life, is perhaps the most inspiring aspect of the Smens journey. No occasion is the same, they are all formed from the hopes, wishes and personalities of the guest they are curated for. This one, as the ones prior, brought tears to our eyes, and what is not conveyed in pictures is the sound of a beautiful sound track playing softly in the forest meddled with the horses hoofs on snowy grounds. The intense cold of the journey there and the warmth of the fire once arrived. A full moon as the witness to a promise of a shared life. We are so honoured to be trusted to make memories for our guests.

En halländsk ridklubb har stängt av en elitryttare från sin anläggning efter anklagelser om våld mot hästar. Nu uttalar sig klubbens ordförande om händelserna som ska ha pågått under en längre tid.

We leave Stockholm after breakfast, a slight drizzle in the air. 1.5 hours later, just as we cross the border into Dalarna we have arrived in white landscapes, ice on the lakes. We drop our bags at the farm, enjoy a light lunch in front of the fire and are off out into nature. Skis come on at 14, leaving us motivated to ski the whole 20k of tracks, chasing that sunset. We all know it is going to be a beautiful weekend.

Autumn and the leaves weave the softest, most colourful carpet under foot. The long walks are daily and always followed by cosy moments spent in front of the fireplace, wooly socks on and candles making the chandilere glisten . Soup is on the stove and it is the weekend so we remind eachother that it is ok to just be. Welcome to autumn at Smens, it's a very laid back affair.

Many years in the making, longing for that golden hour on the watee as we watch guests set off across still Dala lakes. Today we got our very own guest kayak and the test ride looks nothing short of magical, just as a summer's night should be.
