The International Secretariat manages and co-ordinates international projects and international partnerships, upholds international networks and represents the County of Värmland in international organisations. As a governmental organisation on the regional level, Värmland County Administrative Board has an obligation to actively take part in co-operation with regions and organisations in the Euro

pean Union. The International Secretariat assists organisations in Värmland with co-operation both on the European and global level.

The pilot BROADEN within the Interreg NSR project CORA deploys fibre optics across the borders of Sweden and Norway, in a rural area that is extremely sparsely populated. As the costs for the Swedish municipality of Torsby and the Norwegian municipality of Grue would be extreme to cover individually, the cooperation between then benefited both sides. In the end the project’s funding was a blend of local, regional and EU funds and the innovative model can be applied in other border areas in Europe.

I EU-projektet CORA har Torsby kommun och Länsstyrelsen Värmland samarbetat med Grue kommune och Innlandet fylkeskommune, Norge i en pilot där en bredbandslösning över gränsen mellan de två länderna genomförts.

I NSR projektet CORA har Länsstyrelsen Värmland och Torsby kommun samarbetat med Innlandet fylkeskommune och Grue kommune i Norge genom en pilot, där en gränsöverskridande bredbandssatsning mellan de två länderna har realiserats. Nu är piloten i final i European Broadband Awards 2022.
