Bornö Station is a marine research station on the island of Stora Bornö in Gullmar Fjord, Bohuslän. The complex was built in 1902 by Gustaf Ekman and Otto Pettersson and has been called the cradle of Swedish marine research. The station is owned by the foundation Bornö Institute for Ocean and Climate Studies, charged with maintaining and improving the station for use in marine research, developmen

t and education. The Universities of Göteborg and Copenhagen and the county administration of Västra Götaland are the organizations behind Bornö Institute. They use the station partime but there is room for other users. Thus the foundations rents out the station for shorter or longer periods, above all to companies and organizations interested in environmental and climate matters.
