Today is a big day for Iceland 🇮🇸🇪🇺

Today’s vote isn’t about saying yes to EU membership no matter the terms. It’s about giving Iceland the chance to negotiate a good deal — and then letting Icelanders decide again whether that deal is good enough.

We’re hoping for a strong YES today: yes to having the conversation, yes to seeing what deal is possible, and yes to giving Icelanders the final say once the terms are on the table.

The Nordic countries are stronger together, and Europe would be stronger with Iceland at the table 💙

In exactly one month from now, on 29 August, Icelanders will go to the polls to decide whether to reopen the accession negotiations to join the EU. A ‘Yes’ would make it possible for Iceland to secure a good deal with the EU - which Icelanders would then vote on again. It is more democratic for Icelanders to have a say in the affairs of their own country instead of just following EU laws without the people having a say. In YENB, we hope that Iceland will choose the European path and restart the negotiations, paving the way for EU membership and Icelandic influence over Icelandic affairs 🗳️🇮🇸🇪🇺

On 6-8 February, YENB held a seminar in the historic city of Kalmar, Sweden. We gathered 40 young people from Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, and Latvia to connect and learn more about Nordic and European cooperation in times of geopolitical uncertainty 🌍

We are happy to announce that new dates for our Kalmar Seminar have been set and the event will officially be taking place from 6th to 8th of February in Kalmar, Sweden.🏰🇸🇪

This international gathering brings together young participants from Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Norway, Estonia, and Latvia to explore and strengthen Nordic cooperation, shared history, and sustainability.🤝🏼📖🌍

Over three days, participants will take part in engaging workshops, discussions, and cultural exchange designed to build a stronger and more united Nordic region.🇸🇪🇳🇴🇫🇮🇩🇰🇪🇪🇱🇻

🗓 Date: 6-8 February 2026
📍 Location: Kalmar, Sweden
🌍 Open to participants from: Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Norway, Estonia, and Latvia
🧭 Themes: Cooperation, history, sustainability

💸 Participation fee: €50
✈️ Travel expenses will be reimbursed per participant as follows:

«From History to Horizons: Kalmar Seminar on Nordic Unity and Growth» is a Nordic Culture Point project that will take place in Kalmar, Sweden from 22nd to 24th of August. The event is open for participants from Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Norway, Estonia and Latvia. The themes will include cooperation, history and sustainability in the Nordic countries.
