Welcome to RAM for the Liberals. I am new to Sweden and recently joined Liberalerna to contribute to society in a positive way. Here I share my thoughts, ideas, and suggestions on education, equality, elderly care, and building a robust and democratic Sweden. Last night (well, on Wednesday actually) was our nomination meeting for Liberalerna Västerås – and wow, what energy! We finalized the list for the 2026 election, discussed strategy, voted, and hyped each other up. It feels amazing to be part of this team that's all about making a real local difference. Oh, and this was my first time voting – such a cool milestone! Big thanks to everyone who joined, let's charge ahead to a brighter future!

We just wrapped up an extra meeting in Västerås today, and it was full of great energy and ideas for what's ahead in the 2026 election. Held at the adult education center, we focused on shaping our path forward.

Here's the scoop:
Our new program for Västmanland is a go!
• Strengthen primary care so everyone gets a doctor they know and waiting times decrease.
• Expand “Nära vård” and increase mobile care teams & home-based care.
• Boost mental health support, especially for children and young people (shorter BUP queues, stronger cooperation with schools).
• Reduce administrative burdens so nurses and doctors spend more time with patients.
• Improve elderly care, rehabilitation, vaccination programs and preventive health.
• Support local businesses, especially opportunities tied to Finnslätten’s potential 30,000 new jobs.
• No tax hikes — growth, not higher taxes, should fund better healthcare.
• Strengthen emergency preparedness after lessons from the pandemic and global instability.

The program will now be fine-tuned into our final election platform.

Candidate lists are locked in for parliament and the region!
We reviewed trial votes and had good chats to finalize teams for national parliament, plus our eastern and western regional districts. Debates stayed positive and fair, with everyone respecting the rules—no negativity, just strong points.

Lots of fired-up discussions on health, work, and freedoms. (Those chat notes were a bit messy, but the spirit was spot on: we're ready to make things better!

Had a productive meeting and lunch with Lotta Edholm – Minister of Upper Secondary Education, Higher Education and Research.

We discussed the future of Swedish education and why these reforms are critical for our society:

Bringing real books and libraries back into schools to strengthen reading and comprehension.
Improving teacher training and working conditions to make teaching an attractive career.
Tackling segregation and language barriers so every child gets equal opportunities.
Rethinking profit-driven schools to ensure quality education comes before business interests.

How will this benefit Sweden?
A well-educated population secures our welfare system and economic growth.
Better schools mean stronger integration and social cohesion.
Skilled graduates will drive innovation and keep Sweden competitive globally.
Education is not just a school issue – it’s the foundation of our future. Let’s make it a priority.

Had an inspiring lunch and coffee break today with Minister of Labor Johan Britz and Minister of Gender Equality Nina Larsson! ☕🍽️

We talked about the challenges in Sweden’s job market—especially for immigrants and those over 40—and shared ideas on how to make the system more inclusive and effective. I highlighted my own experience of job hunting and suggested practical solutions like direct skill‑to‑job matching and creating more local production opportunities to boost employment.
The Minister acknowledged the issues and shared three key priorities:
✔️ Short, job‑oriented vocational training
✔️ Making work always pay more than benefits
✔️ Smarter migration and integration policies

It was great to see openness to new ideas and a commitment to improving opportunities for everyone. 💡

Sweden has incredible talent and potential—we just need better bridges between skills and jobs. Let’s keep pushing for change that empowers people and strengthens our economy!

What Our Campaign is About – Liberalerna Västerås

Today we stand together for a stronger, freer, and more caring Sweden. The Liberals are focusing on three key issues that affect us all:

📚 Education – More Books, Fewer Screens

Sweden is facing a reading crisis. One in four students struggles with reading, which risks creating a generation unable to fully participate in society.
We want to:
✅ Bring back real books and reduce screen time in schools
✅ Support teachers with better pay and resources
✅ Focus on knowledge and equal opportunities for every child

👵 Elderly Care – Safety, Quality, and Freedom of Choice

Our elderly deserve dignity and care. But today, service houses are being closed and dementia homes are lacking.
We want to:
✅ Stop the closure of service houses
✅ Ensure more homes and better access to elderly care
✅ Improve quality, continuity, and treatment in eldercare

🏫 Safer and Stronger Schools

Every child should feel safe and supported in the classroom.
We want to:
✅ Add more adults in schools to support learning and security
✅ Create smaller teaching groups for better results
✅ Build schools where knowledge and safety come first

🌍 These goals reflect Liberal values: freedom of choice, responsibility, dignity, and equal opportunities for all.

💬 This is not just a campaign for Liberals. We invite all residents of Sweden, including opposition voices, to join this conversation. Together, through healthy discussion, we can build a better Sweden for everyone.
