A Living Mission of Hope in Cogeo, Philippines

Our recent mission visit to Cogeo, Philippines was a deeply moving experience of encounter, faith and shared mission.

Over the last weekend, our team from the IJ Vocation Team Singapore had the privilege of meeting the pioneering women of the IJ Centre, children, parents, young adults and dedicated volunteers who continue to nurture this living community of faith and service.

Through sharing the IJ story and our personal journeys, we were humbled by the deep hunger for formation and the sincere desire to grow in IJ spirituality. The openness of the people, their questions and their willingness to serve more deeply revealed a community truly alive in the Spirit.

We were especially touched by the dedication of Sr Neriza and the many volunteers whose quiet generosity continues to sustain and grow the mission in such a powerful way.

This visit reminded us that mission is always shared. It is built through presence, listening, encouragement and love. What we witnessed in Cogeo is a living testimony of how God transforms lives through simple acts of service and faithful accompaniment.

We return to Singapore grateful, inspired and renewed in our commitment to walk together in mission.

May many more be inspired to join in this journey of hope, faith and love.

Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus — Loved More Than You Know

Introduction
In a world where many people feel pressured to perform, afraid of failure, or unnoticed in their struggles, the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus reminds us of a life-changing truth: we are deeply loved. Not because of what we achieve, possess, or accomplish, but simply because we are God's beloved children. The Heart of Jesus remains open to every person, offering a love that never gives up, never turns away, and never stops seeking us.

Theme
“Loved More Than You Know”

Theme Meaning
The Sacred Heart reveals the depth of God's love for humanity. It is a heart that understands our joys and sorrows, our strengths and weaknesses. In a world where love can sometimes be conditional, the love of Jesus remains constant, faithful, and unconditional.

Scripture Text
"Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest."
— Matthew 11:28

Biblical Meaning

Throughout His life, Jesus showed the compassionate love of God. He welcomed sinners, healed the sick, comforted the broken-hearted, and sought out those who felt lost or forgotten. The Sacred Heart symbolizes this limitless love—a heart that continues to love even when rejected, wounded, or ignored.

Jesus invites all who are burdened to come to Him and find rest in His love.
Reflection for Us Today
Many people today carry hidden burdens. Some struggle with loneliness despite being surrounded by others. Some feel exhausted from trying to meet expectations. Others quietly wonder if they are enough.

The Sacred Heart of Jesus speaks directly to these wounds. It reminds us that before we are successful, productive, or admired, we are loved.

Jesus does not wait for us to be perfect before loving us. He meets us where we are—in our disappointments, fears, failures, and hopes. His Heart tells us, "You do not have to earn my love. You already have it."

When we truly believe this, our lives begin to change. We stop measuring our worth by achievements and start living from the security of being loved by God.

The deepest hunger of the human heart is not for success, but for a love that will never leave. The Sacred Heart of Jesus is that love.

Prayer
Lord Jesus,
Your Sacred Heart is a refuge for the weary and a source of hope for the discouraged. When we feel burdened, remind us that we are loved beyond measure. When we feel unworthy, help us trust in Your mercy.
Teach us to rest in Your love and to share that same love with others through kindness, compassion, and understanding.

May our hearts become more like Yours—gentle, humble, forgiving, and full of love.
Amen.

Reflection for Corpus Christi
The Bread of Life for Today

Introduction
The Solemnity of Corpus Christi celebrates the gift of the Eucharist, the Body and Blood of Christ. In a world marked by noise, pressure and uncertainty, it reminds us that God draws close to humanity in a simple and profound way. Jesus gives Himself as nourishment for the journey of life, offering peace, strength and hope.

Theme
Christ as the true nourishment of the human heart.

Meaning of the Theme
Human life is marked by a deep hunger for love, meaning and peace. Many try to satisfy this hunger through success, possessions or distraction, yet something still feels lacking. The Eucharist reveals that this hunger is ultimately spiritual. Only Christ, who gives Himself fully, can satisfy the deepest desire of the human soul.

Gospel Text
John 6:51 to 58
Jesus said
I am the living bread that came down from heaven. Whoever eats this bread will live for ever and the bread that I will give is my flesh for the life of the world.

Biblical Meaning
Jesus reveals Himself as the Bread of Life. He is not only a teacher but the source of eternal life. His gift of Himself points to His sacrifice on the Cross and His continuing presence in the Eucharist. Through Him, believers receive strength, healing and communion with God.

Reflection for Today
Modern life is full yet often empty. People are surrounded by activity and information, yet many still feel a lack of peace within. The Gospel speaks directly to this reality.
Jesus reminds us that true fulfilment is not found in what we possess but in who we receive. The Eucharist is God’s answer to human longing. In receiving Christ, we are invited to be transformed by His presence.
We are also called to become what we receive. The Body of Christ is not only a gift to be received but a life to be shared. In daily life this means living with kindness, forgiveness and generosity. It means being a source of hope to those who are lonely, struggling or forgotten.

Prayer
Lord Jesus,
You are the Bread of Life who nourishes our souls.
In the busyness of life, draw our hearts back to You. Strengthen us through Your presence in the Eucharist and help us to live in Your love.
May we become instruments of Your peace and hope in the world.
Amen.

Today, as we remember Blessed Nicolas Barré, we are invited to ask ourselves a simple question: Whose life am I helping to brighten?

He saw beyond poverty, limitations, and circumstances. He saw the beauty and potential that God had placed in every child. With a heart full of faith, he chose to trust, to serve, and to love without counting the cost.

In a world that can often be hurried and divided, his life reminds us that the smallest acts of kindness, encouragement, and compassion can change a life forever.

May Blessed Nicolas Barré inspire us today to notice those who are overlooked, to believe in others when they struggle to believe in themselves, and to be a source of hope wherever we are.

Blessed Nicolas Barré, pray for us.

On 31 May, we remember Blessed Nicolas Barré, whose faith in God and love for the poor led him to believe that every child deserves the gift of education.

At a time when many girls were denied opportunities to learn, he saw their dignity, their potential, and their worth.

Trusting completely in Divine Providence, he inspired a mission that continues to transform lives across the world.

His message remains as relevant today as ever: to see Christ in others, to serve with humility, and to bring hope where it is needed most.

May his example move us to open hearts, uplift lives, and make a difference through simple acts of love.

Blessed Nicolas Barré, pray for us.

Reflection for Trinity Sunday

The God Who Stays Close

Introduction
Life today moves fast. Many people are constantly busy yet deeply tired. We reply to messages, meet deadlines and carry responsibilities, but inside we can feel anxious, disconnected and alone. Trinity Sunday speaks directly into this reality. It reminds us that God is not distant from our everyday struggles. God is relationship, love and presence. In the middle of our noisy and demanding lives, the Father, Son and Holy Spirit remain close to us.

Over the weekend, we joyfully celebrated the Feast of Pentecost and the Feast of Blessed Nicolas Barré together as one Nicolas Barré Family, Sisters and lay members united in faith, mission, and thanksgiving.

The celebration began with a warm welcome address by our Provincial, Sr Elizabeth Moey, who reminded us of the spirit and values of Blessed Nicolas Barré: trust in Divine Providence, humility, simplicity, compassion, and openness to God’s will.

We were also reminded that the Holy Spirit continues to guide, renew, and strengthen us as we journey together in service and collaboration.

The gathering included a meaningful prayer service, moments of fellowship and reflection, and concluded with a scrumptious tea fellowship filled with joy, friendship, and gratitude.
May the Spirit of Pentecost continue to inspire and bless our mission together.
