What an exhilarating atmosphere at the National Stadium! Our Primary 5 students had the wonderful opportunity to attend the National Education (NE) Show as part of the NDP 2026 celebrations.

This experience serves as a significant milestone in our students' Character and Citizenship Education (CCE) journey. Amidst the vibrant sea of red and white, our P5s were immersed in a powerful display of our nation's story, echoing the spirit of "Majulah Singapura" with every heartfelt cheer and song.

What a fantastic way to kick off Term 3! Our Primary 5 students started the new term with an adventurous 3-day, 2-night camp that took learning beyond the classroom walls.

The camp was packed with hands-on learning experiences, from the physical challenge of hiking and rock-climbing to the mental agility required for pathfinding and navigation. As they worked together to solve problems during orienteering sessions, our students learnt the importance of teambuilding and collective effort.

Throughout the journey, our P5s demonstrated remarkable Resilience as they tackled unfamiliar environments and encouraged one another to keep going. By supporting their peers through every milestone, they lived out the value of Responsibility, taking ownership of their personal growth and their team's success.

These experiences are central to the holistic development of our students at YCKPS, helping them build the character and confidence needed to face future challenges. Well done, P5s, for such an inspiring start to the term!

"Lights, camera and plenty of action!" Our Primary 1 students took center stage this week in the last week of Term 2 for their "Celebration of Learning ," marking a milestone in their first semester in Yio Chu Kang Primary School (YCKPS).

"Celebration of Learning " is a heartening culmination of a vibrant 10 weeks of language learning where our young learners explored the world of drama. Throughout this journey, our students worked hard to develop the confidence to express themselves, collaborate meaningfully to put up a creative class drama performance and dramatise with poise. From mastering their lines to strengthening the resilience to perform in front of a live audience, they have truly demonstrated their growth as confident and self-directed learners.

It was a joy to see our P1s celebrate their progress alongside their parents through such a lively presentation and the interactive-reflection segment that followed the performance. By striving for excellence in their performances, our students have embodied one of the aspects of our school's vision, "Engaging Hearts." We are incredibly proud of their holistic development and the vibrant spirit they bring to our YCKPS community!

The school buzzed with energy as Yio Chu Kang Primary School (YCKPS) hosted an exciting Mathematics Challenge during recess! It was wonderful to see our students eagerly putting on their thinking caps, proving that learning can be just as fun and engaging outside the classroom setting.

Students gathered at our activity stations, all excited to tackle a variety of brain teasers and logic puzzles. It was heartening to see our young learners so deeply engaged in problem-solving, applying their classroom knowledge to interactive challenges. This programme is part of our commitment to holistic development, aiming to deepen their understanding of mathematical concepts while heightening their interest in the subject through purposeful play.

Our school campus recently buzzed with excitement as students from all levels immersed themselves in our Mother Tongue Languages (MTL) Fortnight learning experience. This vibrant experience provided our learners with meaningful opportunities to deepen their appreciation of their respective Mother Tongue Languages and cultures through a rich variety of traditional and experiential activities.

From mastering traditional games to participating in collaborative group tasks, our students ventured beyond the learning through text materials to that of hands-on experiences to appreciate their cultural heritage. These authentic learning experiences are part of our Holistic Development approach, designed to foster deeper connection with the learning of MTL while building our students' confidence to communicate fluently and meaningfully with the community through activities.

Our Primary 5 students had an enriching and culturally immersive Day 4 of their Twinning Experience in Guangdong! It was a day filled with heritage appreciation and deeper insights into urban development.

The day began at a Cantonese Opera Art Museum in 永庆坊 (Yong Qing Fang), where students were introduced to the rich traditions of Cantonese opera and the preservation of historical architecture which is blended into modernised city plans. The learning journey continued at the Guangzhou Urban Planning Exhibition Center, where students gained a broader understanding of how cities are thoughtfully designed and developed. Through engaging displays and models, our young and curious learners made connections between urban planning and sustainable living.

We are proud to see our students growing as confident and globally aware learners, embracing every opportunity to learn beyond the classroom during this learning trip.
