We are pleased to announce the extension of the appointment of Justice Teh Hwee Hwee as the Presiding Judge of the Family Justice Courts for a period of three years with effect from 1 October 2026.

In addition, Justice Tay Yong Kwang and Justice Steven Chong Horng Siong will be stepping down as Justices of the Court of Appeal upon the completion of their current terms, with their last days of service on 2 September 2026 and 22 September 2026 respectively.

Congratulations Chief Justice Sundaresh Menon on being conferred The Order of Temasek (With Distinction) at the National Day Awards 2026 – a recognition of his distinguished contributions to upholding the Rule of Law.

Reflecting on the honour, Chief Justice Menon shared, "This award honours all who have worked tirelessly to strengthen the Judiciary and sustain public confidence in the administration of justice. It is especially meaningful that it is conferred in the year in which we commemorate the Bicentennial of Singapore's legal and judicial system."

We also congratulate our colleagues recognised with the Public Administration Medal (Gold, Silver and Bronze), the Commendation Medal and Efficiency Medal for their dedicated service.

The Singapore Courts were honoured to participate in the 47th ASEAN Law Association (ALA) Governing Council Meeting and the 13th Council of ASEAN Chief Justices (CACJ) Meeting in Bangkok from 21–23 July 2026. Bringing together Chief Justices, judges and legal leaders from across the region, the meetings reaffirmed a shared commitment to advancing the rule of law and building stronger judicial partnerships to address evolving cross-border legal challenges.

The ALA Singapore delegation contributed to discussions on regional initiatives spanning legal harmonisation, judicial training, court technology, artificial intelligence, climate justice, digital assets and cross-border cooperation.

Justice Pongdej Wanichkittikul was elected as the new ALA President while the Chief Justice of Thailand, Hon. Adisak Tantiwong, was elected as chair of the CACJ.
