National Council Against Drug Abuse - NCADA

National Council Against Drug Abuse - NCADA NCADA is a citizen’s advisory council on preventive drug measures and programmes in Singapore. Thank you for your support!

We seek to harness community support and complement the promotion of programmes and research to inform the public on the dangers of drug addiction. The National Council Against Drug Abuse (NCADA) was formed in January 1995 as an advisory council to the Minister and the Ministry of Home Affairs on policies and measures necessary to curb drug abuse in Singapore and to mobilise and sustain public sup

port for the anti-drug programmes undertaken by government departments and voluntary organisations. Together with the Home Team departments, relevant agencies and community partners, NCADA organises and coordinates anti-drug activities as well as assists other organisations, institutions, bodies and persons who are interested in tackling the drug problem. NCADA also aims to promote preventive drug education programmes to educate the public on the drug menace and rally them in support of the government’s efforts against drug abuse. While we welcome constructive feedback and civil discussions, postings which are offensive, irrelevant or breach Facebook's Terms of Use and Code of Conduct may be removed. Contact Information:

On 22 July 2026, NCADA Vice-Chairman Dr Chew Tuan Chiong and several NCADA members attended the Central Narcotics Bureau's (CNB's) Workplan Seminar 2026.

The seminar highlighted CNB's multi-pronged approach to Singapore's drug challenge – spanning enforcement, preventive drug education, rehabilitation, and technological innovation under CNB 2030.

As a council committed to community-based anti-drug efforts, NCADA reaffirms its partnership with CNB. Dr Chew noted, "Singapore's strongest defence against drugs is not enforcement alone, but a well-informed, resilient and united community."

Together, we build a drug-free Singapore for generations to come. 💪

What does effective drug prevention look like? For NCADA, it starts with young people themselves.

Our National Drug Perception Survey 2025 found that 90.9% of young Singaporeans would help someone they believe may be at risk of drug abuse - yet only 50.2% feel confident they know how. Closing that gap is at the heart of upstream, community-first anti-drug prevention.

The SG Youth Plan was launched last week. At NCADA, we also reaffirm our commitment to empowering young people not just to receive prevention messages, but to lead them.

Parents play a powerful role in helping children stay away from drugs. According to the National Drug Perception Survey, nearly 95% of youths say that having parents who actively talk with them about drug‑related issues has helped them remain drug‑free.

In this episode, host Ee Jay speaks with Dr Adrian Loh, spokesperson for the National Council Against Drug Abuse - NCADA and a Senior Consultant Psychiatrist in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. They explore why drug abuse prevention remains a critical issue for families today—especially as drugs have become more accessible through digital platforms, online messaging, and overseas exposure.

CNA's Breaking The Habit offers rare access into the DRC system, following four individuals across two episodes as they navigate treatment, counselling, and rehabilitation alongside their families who bear the wider toll of drug abuse.

Prevention needs to start long before a person ever enters the system. These testimonies are a call to understand and address the conditions that make people vulnerable to drug abuse in the first place.

Inside Singapore’s Drug Rehabilitation Centres, four drug abusers confront addiction through treatment, counselling and strict routines, while their families grapple with the consequences of drug abuse.
