Starting and raising a family is one of the most important decisions you can make. The measures announced at the National Day Rally reflect our commitment to support Singaporean families through the different stages of life.

The enhanced marriage and parenthood measures will give parents more time, assurance and support. This includes increased childcare leave, more financial support through the new SG Child Support Package, and better access to affordable, quality preschools.

These enhancements were shaped by feedback we have received from Singaporeans. We will continue working with families, employers and partners to build a Singapore made for families.

A job title may tell you what someone does, but not always the heart they bring to it.

So, as we celebrate this year’s National Day theme of “going beyond”, we’re also celebrating some of the people behind MSF who go beyond their role – whether for a family, young children, or Singapore’s future. Every time we go a little further for one another, it’s a reminder that better starts with us.

Happy National Day, Singapore! 🇸🇬

Li-Choo and James don't just lead teams at Great Eastern Singapore; they lead by example.

In their lunchtime chat, they shared about their mission to build a workplace where family comes first. From championing family-friendly policies to organising events that bring parents and children together, they believe a successful career and a thriving family life aren't a tradeoff. They're both possible.

Everyone plays a part in building strong families, from corporates to individuals. Together, we can make Singapore a great place for families. Learn more at go.gov.sg/BetterStartsWithUs.

Imagine finding your voice and processing your deepest emotions, all through a song you wrote 🎶

That’s exactly what the youths from MSF’s Singapore Girls' Home experienced at this year’s “Foreword” presented by Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay, , when their original songs were performed by artists and mentors from "Songwriting for Hope". Under this decade-long collaboration between MSF and Esplanade, the girls poured their hopes, aspirations and personal stories into their own compositions, using music as a way to express themselves and reflect on their journeys. It is one of Esplanade’s flagship Arts & Wellbeing programmes in partnership with Diamonds on the Street.

This is what Better Starts with Us is all about – bringing together community partners to uplift others and help them thrive 💙

Small swaps can make a big difference 👀

As a parent, managing screen time can feel like an uphill battle but it doesn't have to be an all-or-nothing approach. Sometimes, all it takes is a small swap: choosing a screen-free habit over a digital one.

From asking how their day went to joining your children for an outdoor activity, simple shifts in our daily routines can help our children build healthier relationships with screens 💙

Looking for more screen-free habits? Download the Small Swaps Bingo and give it a go! ➡️ https://www.bescreensmart.gov.sg/support/
