This August, we celebrate two milestones: Singapore’s 61st National Day and BSE’s 51st year of safeguarding buildings across the nation.

As Singapore has grown into a modern, resilient city, the fire safety ecosystem has evolved alongside it. Over five decades, BSE has supported this progress by strengthening fire protection, prevention, and precaution systems across residential, commercial, and industrial developments.

Effective 16 October 2025, SCDF has updated the requirements for DECAMS fire alarm isolation durations. These apply to all premises with fire alarm systems connected via an alarm monitoring service.

Revised isolation limits:

Weekdays (8:00am – 6:00pm)
• Maximum 4 hours per isolation block
• All isolations must end by 6:00pm, regardless of start time

After 6:00pm, Weekends & Public Holidays
• Maximum 2 hours per isolation block

Important operational note:
• If maintenance works require more time, an extension must be requested in advance from the alarm monitoring service provider.
• Once the isolation period ends, any alarm activation will be transmitted directly to SCDF.

Additional Advisory:
For site-specific procedures or clarification on isolation arrangements, please refer to your appointed DECAM operator or alarm monitoring service provider.

What this means for building owners and managers:
• Plan maintenance works within the revised time blocks
• Request extensions early where required
• Ensure site teams are fully briefed on the new rules
