Imagine a world where you could board your flight without showing a passport, ID, or even a ticket. Singapore’s Changi Airport has made this vision a reality, becoming the world’s first fully passport-free airport, thanks to advanced biometric technology.
On September 30, Changi rolled out a comprehensive face-scanning clearance system across all four terminals, reducing immigration processing times by 60%. Although international travelers still need to present passports upon arrival, they can now depart without one—biometrics do it all. Since the implementation, over 1.5 million travelers have cleared immigration without needing a passport.
Passengers are only required to submit their SG Arrival Card three days before arrival. This groundbreaking system, which began trials in August 2024, positions Changi Airport as a leader in airport innovation, with technology streamlining the travel experience like never before.
