The SAF Volunteer Corps (SAFVC) is promoting 114 Volunteers this year. At the promotion ceremony held on 20 Jun 26, Commander SAFVC, Senior Lieutenant Colonel (SLTC) Low Youwen presented certificates to these SAFVC Volunteers, in recognition of their commitment and valuable contributions to the Singapore Armed Forces. The ceremony was made even more meaningful with the presence of loved ones and friends as they witnessed their growth in the volunteer journey.

SV2 Gabriel Yeap shared on what this promotion means to him, "This promotion is more than a personal milestone โ€” it is a reminder of the responsibility that comes with serving. It motivates me to contribute more, support and guide others, and continue to lead by example. I am grateful for the opportunity and will commit to upholding the values and standards expected of me."

SV1 Carman Chew called out to anyone considering joining the SAFVC, "This promotion is a huge honour and a meaningful recognition of the time and effort I have dedicated to serving. While the new rank comes with greater responsibilities, I am excited to continue growing alongside the SAFVC and contributing in other ways. My message to anyone considering joining the SAFVC is simple: everyone has a part to play in national defence. With the wide range of opportunities available, you can find a role that combines your skills and passions with a meaningful purpose."

Congratulations to all promotees! We thank you for your continued commitment and contributions to the SAFVC and the Singapore Armed Forces.

On 10 Jun 26, the Army segment of the MINDEF Experience Programme (MEP) was held at Selarang Camp for students from junior colleges and polytechnics. The MEP aims to provide the students with insights into the four different Services of the SAF through hands-on experience and meaningful engagements.

The Infantry formation - Headquarters 9th Singapore Division/ Infantry (HQ 9 Div/ Inf), Basic Military Training Centre (BMTC), and Motorised Infantry Training Institute (MTI), came together to design and conduct immersive activities for the students to experience the Army. From an Infantry Carrier Vehicle (ICV) experiential ride and drone-flying circuit to weapon displays, the students explored the latest technologies and capabilities our Army has to offer.

The event concluded with an engagement session with Chief of Defence Force (CDF), Vice Admiral (VADM) Aaron Beng, and Commander 9th Singapore Division/ Chief Infantry Officer (Comd 9 Div/ CIO), Brigadier-General (BG) Fairoz Bin Hassan, during which they engaged the students and shared personal stories and insights from their military journey.

We are Infantry!

Three Warrant Officers from our Singapore Army recently graduated from the United States Sergeants Major Course (USSMC), conducted at Fort Bliss, Texas, from 28 May 2025 to 12 June 2026.

Master Warrant Officer (MWO) Saw Guang Dao, First Warrant Officer (1WO) Ho Kok Leong and Second Warrant Officer (2WO) Zac Douglas Xu Peiwen distinguished themselves throughout the USSMC and were placed on the Commandantโ€™s List in recognition of their outstanding course performance. Notably, 1WO Ho was inducted into The Order of the Iron Pen for his written assignment and emerged as the top-performing international student, earning the Distinguished International Military Student Award amongst a cohort of 69 international military students.

Reflecting on his experience, 1WO Ho shared, โ€œRepresenting the SAF and the Singapore Army on the international stage was both an honour and a privilege. I am deeply grateful to the Army leadership, mentors and family members who have supported me throughout my journey, and I hope this achievement encourages future soldiers to continue pushing their limits and fly our flag high.โ€

All three Warrant Officers also concurrently pursued higher education qualification through the U.S. Armyโ€™s premier Professional Military Education (PME) programmes, demonstrating exceptional discipline, resilience and a commitment to lifelong learning. MWO Saw was conferred a Bachelor of Arts in Leadership and Workforce Development by the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College; 1WO Ho was conferred a Master of Defence and Strategic Studies from the University of Texas at El Paso; and, 2WO Xu was conferred a Master of Science in Management (Organizational Leadership) from Excelsior University.

Congratulations to MWO Saw, 1WO Ho and 2WO Xu on their outstanding achievements and for flying our Singapore flag high! Their success reflects the professionalism of our WOSpec Corps and the SAFโ€™s commitment to developing leaders who excel in both military and academic pursuits.

Covered in mud, drenched in rain.

Through the dirt and every obstacle, focus stays locked on the objective ahead.

That is how we stand ready โ€” unfazed by the elements, driven by the mission.

On 10 June 2026, our former Sergeant Major of the Army, Chief Warrant Officer (CWO) Sanjee Singh was inducted into the prestigious United States Army Non-Commissioned Officer (NCO) Academy Hall of Fame, joining the distinguished list of international military leaders to have received this honour.

The US Army NCO Academy Hall of Fame recognises graduates who have demonstrated exceptional leadership and professional excellence, with significant contributions to the military profession. CWO Sanjeeโ€™s induction is a testament to his steadfast commitment to the leadership development and professional military education of the Warrant Officer, Specialist, and Military Expert Corps.

In his induction speech, CWO Sanjee shared three words that guided his journey: "Uniform, Purpose, and Roots. The uniform you wear is a reminder that we serve something greater than ourselves โ€” to protect our nation, our people, and our families. Having a clear purpose keeps you grounded, and provides meaning to your service which keeps you going during difficult moments. Most importantly, remember where you came from, stay humble, and invest in the next generation. Leadership is measured by how well we develop those who follow us."

Congratulations to CWO Sanjee on this well-deserved milestone achievement! His achievement is also a reflection of the SAFโ€™s continued emphasis on leadership excellence and professional development.

For LTA Zakiah, service is a duty that goes beyond rank or appointment.

A Guards Officer currently on sponsored studies, she carries with her the resilience and fighting spirit of the formation, constantly challenging herself, leading with purpose, and striving to grow beyond her limits.

A trailblazer, she made history as the first female Parade Commander in OCS, and also led in ground-up initiatives in her unit such as the SAF Community Partnership Programme, serving nursing homes, halfway houses, and eldercare centres. This bridge has played an important role in strengthening bonds between Our Army and the community.

"Anything But Regular is about challenging myself, pushing myself to scale greater heights, and discovering strengths I never knew I had. It has been a journey of personal growth, and has shaped who I am today."

This is her story - told through moments sheโ€™s lived and captured.
