What happens before your surgery matters just as much as the surgery itself.

Behind every procedure at SKH, there's a dedicated team ensuring every instrument is safe, sterile, and ready. And their work has just been recognised on a regional stage.

We are proud to share that SKH's Central Sterile Supply Unit (CSSU) has been awarded the 𝐀𝐏𝐒𝐈𝐂 𝐂𝐒𝐒𝐃 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐄𝐱𝐜𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝 at the 12th International Congress of the Asia Pacific Society of Infection Control (APSIC), held in Kuala Lumpur - a prestigious recognition for outstanding excellence in sterilisation, infection prevention, and patient safety.

This means that when you or your loved ones come to SKH for care, every instrument used in your treatment meets the highest international standards, cleaned, disinfected, and sterilised with rigorous precision by a team deeply committed to keeping you safe.

To the CSSU team, thank you for your dedication and your quiet but essential role in every patient's care journey. This one's for you. 👏

What you eat could play a bigger role in your muscle health than you think.

Tan Yie Ling, Dietitian at SKH, highlighted how targeted dietary changes, including increased protein, calorie and vitamin D intake, alongside nutritional supplements, helped one patient improve muscle strength and gain 5.5kg over one year.

But nutrition is only part of the picture. Yie Ling emphasised that nutrition and exercise are equally important in managing sarcopenia. With support from dietitians, physiotherapists, speech therapists and family, older adults can work towards maintaining mobility, independence and quality of life. 🧡

Have you ever noticed a loved one coughing or choking more often during meals? 🍚 It might be more than just eating too fast!

As we age, swallowing can become more challenging than we realise. Dysphagia, or swallowing difficulty, can affect the ability to chew food or move food and drinks safely from the mouth to the stomach. When food or drinks go "down the wrong way", it can lead to chest infections, poor nutrition, dehydration, and weight loss, affecting overall health and quality of life.

It's more common than you think, and it's something we should all know more about!

Want to help your family eat & drink safely and comfortably? Join us at our upcoming Health Talk on Ageing and Swallowing Difficulty (Dysphagia) and learn how to spot the signs, manage swallowing difficulties, and help your loved ones savour every bite and sip safely.

Because enjoying good food and drinks are one of life's greatest joys!
