Amazing afternoon with our seniors and volunteers! Amidst the summer heat, we brought cheer, craft and captivating tunes to All Saints Home (Yishun) last Wednesday. Happy to see our youths serving alongside the committed adults and energetic senior volunteers to bring joy and warmth to the residents.

"To see and to be seen. That is the truest nature of love."
— Brené Brown

Yellowren came alongside the Human Library Initiative by Project Amaryllis and Sibunite at Raffles Girls' School. The workshop focused on individuals who have siblings with special needs. They are often referred to as "glass children" because attention is frequently directed towards their siblings who have greater needs. Encouraging to see these children and youths forming a community, connected through art and shared experiences.

Bringing our Transformative Arts Programme to Fairfield Methodist Primary School (ONE Fairfield) for the first time! From getting their hands dirty painting gigantic donuts to designing their own tote bags, our students built mental resilience, emotional strength and confidence through the 8-week programme. The students did so well stepping up to facilitate recess workshops for the school community last week. Love setting up spaces of art for children to explore and create!

Education extends beyond the physical compound of a school. As part of the Transformative Arts Programme, students from Yio Chu Kang Secondary School facilitated a workshop and connected with seniors at St Luke's Eldercare. It was encouraging to see the students stepping out of their comfort zone and guiding close to 50 seniors along with their caregivers through a purposeful time of craft and conversations.

Through play and exploration, the children navigated different art processes and learned to become more independent and adaptable. Looking forward to the next workshop!

What if homework is replaced by art projects? School’s out but we brought our Transformative Arts Programme to Huamin Primary School Primary School and had lots of fun crafting and connecting with students from the Student Care Centre. While making art, students learn to problem-solve, work through the mess and enjoy a time of undivided focus away from their screens and devices. We’ll definitely love more of this in schools!
