📌NA DANAŠNJI DAN leta 1986 je Cerkno doživelo pomemben muzejski trenutek.
Pod arkadami muzeja so odkrili doprsni kip dr. Franje Bojc Bidovec, delo akademskega kiparja Toneta Logondra. Istega dne so Oddelek NOB Mestnega muzeja Idrija poimenovali po Partizanski bolnišnici Franja in odprli prvo stalno razstavo o njenem delovanju, ki jo je pripravil takratni kustos Samo Bevk. Slovesno vzdušje so dopolnili tudi številni udeleženci kolesarskega maratona Franja.

V štirih desetletjih se je marsikaj spremenilo. Ime muzejskega oddelka se ni uveljavilo v vsakdanji rabi, oddelek NOB pa je v devetdesetih letih prerasel v muzej lokalne zgodovine in postal CERKLJANSKI MUZEJ. Prva razstava o Franji je obiskovalce nagovarjala do prenove muzejskih prostorov leta 1998, nato pa je bila deponirana. Danes lahko del tega bogatega gradiva ponovno spoznamo na razstavi PARTIZANSKA BOLNICA FRANJA – SKRITI DRAGULJ EVROPE.
Nespremenjen pa ostaja simbolni varuh tega spomina – doprsni kip dr. Franje Bojc Bidovec, ki še vedno stoji pod arkadami ob vhodu v muzej in obiskovalce vabi k odkrivanju ene najpomembnejših zgodb naše dediščine.

ON THIS DAY in 1986, Cerkno witnessed an important moment in the history of its museum.
Under the museum’s arcades, a bust of Dr. Franja Bojc Bidovec, created by the academic sculptor Tone Logonder, was unveiled. On the same day, the National Liberation Struggle (NOB) Department of the Idrija City Museum was named after the Franja Partisan Hospital, and the first permanent exhibition on its operations—curated by Samo Bevk, the museum’s curator at the time—was opened. The festive atmosphere was further enhanced by the many participants in the Franja Cycling Marathon.

Much has changed over the past four decades. The name of the museum department did not catch on in everyday use, and in the 1990s, the NOB Department evolved into a local history museum and became the CERKLJANSKI MUSEUM. The first exhibition on Franja was on display until the museum’s renovation in 1998, after which it was put into storage. Today, part of this rich collection can once again be explored at the exhibition “THE FRANJA PARTISAN HOSPITAL—A HIDDEN GEM OF EUROPE.”
However, the symbolic guardian of this memory remains unchanged—the bust of Dr. Franja Bojc Bidovec, which still stands beneath the arcades at the museum’s entrance, inviting visitors to discover one of the most important stories of our heritage.

NA DANAŠNJI DAN, 13. julij
pred tremi leti je Partizansko bolnico Franja močno poškodovala povodenj, pet dni pozneje pa še vetrolom.

Želimo si, da bi se obnova čimprej zaključila, ker:

📌 FRANJA je spomin in opomin na prestano gorje druge svetovne vojne ter dokaz, kaj zmorejo ustvariti ljudje, ki se borijo za mir in svobodo;

📌 FRANJA je spomenik humanosti, solidarnosti in mednarodnega povezovanja v boju proti fašizmu in nacizmu;

📌 FRANJA je učna ura slovenske zgodovine v času druge svetovne vojne, v kateri lahko spoznamo bistvene značilnosti takratnega dogajanja: spopad s fašizmom in z nacizmom, borbo za narodni obstoj, komunistično revolucijo, in navsezadnje vsakodnevno bitko posameznika za preživetje;

📌 FRANJA je spomenik državnega pomena in nosilka znaka evropske dediščine;

📌 FRANJA je gonilna sila turistične panoge v regiji, njeno zaprtje ne pomeni samo izpada prihodka za muzej, temveč za Idrijsko-Cerkljansko v celoti;

📌 FRANJA tudi po treh letih ostaja zaželena turistična destinacija tako tujih kot domačih obiskovalcev, kar dokazuje konstantno povpraševanje;

📌 Nobena razstava, film ali knjiga ne moreta zgodbe o FRANJI predstaviti na način kot ga lahko obiskovalci doživijo na sami lokaciji v soteski Pasice!

ON THIS DAY, July 13
three years ago, the Franja Partisan Hospital was severely damaged by flooding, and five days later by a windstorm.

We hope that the restoration will be completed as soon as possible, because:

📌 FRANJA serves as a reminder of the hardships endured during World War II and a testament to what the love of freedom can achieve;

📌 FRANJA is a monument to humanity, solidarity, and international cooperation in the fight against fascism and Na**sm;

📌 FRANJA is a lesson in Slovenian history during World War II, through which we can learn about the essential characteristics of the events of that time: the confrontation with fascism and Na**sm, the struggle for national survival, the communist revolution, and, ultimately, the individual’s daily battle for survival;

📌 FRANJA is a monument of national significance and a holder of the European Heritage Label;

📌 FRANJA is the driving force behind tourism development in the region; its closure represents a loss of revenue not only for the museum but for the entire Idrija-Cerkno region;

📌 Even after three years, FRANJA remains frequently requested tourist destination for both foreign and domestic visitors, as evidenced by the constant demand;

📌 No exhibition, film, or book can present the story of FRANJA in the same way that visitors can experience it firsthand at the site itself in the Pasice Gorge!

NA DANAŠNJI DAN, 19. maj,

pred 80 leti, v času ko Primorska še ni bila priključena matični domovini, je bilo na Cerkljanskem zelo slovesno. Cesta iz Cerknega proti Novakom je bila slavnostno okrašena. Pred gostilno v Logu (Uaštaríe u Luogu) je potekala prireditev ob odprtju Partizanske bolnice Franja za javnost. Poleg množice obiskovalcev od blizu in daleč so se je udeležili tudi številni gostje. Nastopil je orkester mladih harmonikarjev iz Trsta. Po prireditvi so obiskovalci obiskali skrito bolnišnico v soteski Pasice.

Prispevek v spletni TV aplikaciji VIDA: o Partizanski bolnici Franja in njeni obnovi.
Zgodba Franje je večplastna, v njej so vsi glavni elementi takratnega zgodovinskega dogajanja v slovenskem prostoru: spopad s fašizmom in z nacizmom, borba za narodni obstoj, komunistična revolucija, mednarodno zavezništvo in navsezadnje vsakodnevna bitka posameznika za preživetje. Skrb za ranjene in bolne v partizanskih bolnicah pa ostaja nesporno vzor humanizma in solidarnosti.

👩‍🔬 Science is also about who had the right to discover!

The history of science is often presented as a straight line of “great names”, almost exclusively male.

But something feels off:
❓who had access to producing science?
❓who was left out?
❓and who kept knowledge alive from the margins?

📖 At the Site millions of index cards classified by women like Léonie La Fontaine sustained projects that we would today call “proto-Internet.” Yet, for decades, their work was described as “auxiliary,” not scientific.

🏥 At the Site Franja Partisan Hospital female doctors, nurses, and logisticians operated a clandestine system of healthcare and sanitary organisation during the war. This was applied science in its purest form: knowledge, innovation, analysis, and adaptation.

🤔 Why don’t these stories occupy the same space as “classic” scientific narratives?
