Danes, 28. maja, obeležujemo Irski dan poezije. Na Irskem otoku na ta dan vsako leto slavimo poezijo in ustvarjalnost.

Za letošnje praznovanje Poetry Ireland / Éigse Éireann predstavlja serijo pesmi na temo "dom", ki jo je irski Nobelov nagrajenec Seamus Heaney raziskoval v svoji poeziji.

This year’s theme, 'Home', is particularly fitting as Seamus Heaney’s poetry often explores place, belonging, memory and identity, making it a meaningful focus for this year’s celebration.

To mark the occasion, visitors to our exhibition throughout May and June can take part in our 'Home' activity in the Creative Zone, inspired by Seamus Heaney’s poem 'Home', first published in The New Yorker on 1st May 1971.

Last Tuesday Ambassador Phelan attended an event with one of the most prominent contemporary Irish playwrights, Marina Carr, who was invited to the Ljubljana Faculty of Arts by the Department of English and American Studies.

The event was organized in cooperation with the Center for Irish Studies in Klagenfurt and the of English at the University of Rijeka, and its implementation was made possible and financially supported by the EFACIS - European Federation of Associations and Centres of Irish Studies and the Irish state agency Culture Ireland.

Danes obeležujemo svetovni dan čebel.

Prav tako kot v Sloveniji imajo na Irskem čebele velik pomen – priljubljena je legenda o sv. Gobnait, zavetnici čebel in čebelarjev na Irskem. Po irskem ljudskem izročilu je srednjeveška opatinja, sv. Gobnait, Irsko pred napadalci branila tako, da je iz svojega panja nad sovražnike spuščala roje čebel, da so jih pičile in odgnale!

Bogastvo ljudskega izročila in zgodovina čebelarjenja na Irskem je predstavljena na razstavi 'Šumenje čebel' v Narodnem muzeju Irske.

Today, on International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia, we mark the progress made on the rights of LGBTIQ+ people.

It is unacceptable that LGBTIQ+ people continue to face discrimination, harassment, and violence for being who they are.

Ireland will continue to call for further steps to realise the full equality of LGBTIQ+ persons at home and globally.

The Department of English at the Faculty of Arts University of Ljubljana will host one of Ireland’s most celebrated contemporary dramatists for a public reading and discussion.

Včeraj smo v sklopu obeležitve 25. obletnice veleposlaništva Irske v Ljubljani na Gallusovem nabrežju, kjer je na ogled razstava fotografij irske kulturne dediščine Spomeniki v fokusu, 'Monuments in Focus' Heritage Ireland gostili varovance CUDV Draga. Skupaj s spremljevalci so z nas pripravili čudovit glasbeno-plesni nastop, v katerem sta se prepletali slovenska in irska tradicija.
Zbrane je nagovorila veleposlanica Irske, po nastopu pa smo se družili in posladkali v restavraciji Druga violina.
Razstavo smo pripravili v sodelovanju z Visit Ljubljana.

Great to join fellow EUNIC Slovenia members yesterday at Škisova tržnica to celebrate Europe Day and promote study and exchange opportunities across Europe.

Together with colleagues from Austria, Hungary, Italy, Germany and Switzerland, we spoke with students about studying abroad, scholarships, language learning and cultural exchange opportunities in Ireland and across Europe.

A fantastic atmosphere and a great opportunity to connect directly with young people interested in international experiences.

Ambassador Phelan was warmly received by M***i mag. Nevzet Porić and Imam Mustafić today. The Ambassador congratulated the Muslimanski kulturni center Ljubljana on its activities and on receiving the HM King Abdullah II of Jordan🥇prize for the "Sharing a Table, Sharing Values: Interfaith Breakfast" hosted at the Centre during the 2026 UN World Interfaith Harmony Week.
