The mighty Basilica of Mary Help of Christians stands in the small village of Brezje near Radovljica in the Gorenjska region, beneath the Karavanke mountains.
[⛪️] In 2000, the basilica was declared Slovenia’s national shrine. Every year on the Feast of the Assumption – known in Slovenia as veliki šmaren – more than 10,000 people visit this national shrine in Brezje, where masses are held throughout the day.

In June 2026, Restaurant Grič hosted the sixth edition of its now-traditional , bringing a taste of Transylvania to the hills of Šentjošt nad Horjulom. Grič

For the evening, Luka Košir and the Grič team welcomed Nicolae Craciun of Cimbru Author in Cluj-Napoca. Rooted in the flavours of Transylvania, Nicolae’s cooking moves with the seasons, local producers, fermentation and fire. Both restaurants are part of the JRE network, which encourages culinary exchange across cultures and generations a connection that helped bring this collaboration to life.

As always, blurred the line between kitchen and dining room. Guests moved freely through the space, stepped into the kitchen, met the chefs and watched dishes come together in front of them. Plate by plate, conversation by conversation, food became a way of connecting people, places and stories.

Step into one of Slovenia’s greenest regions 💚 and experience an authentic connection with nature and the people who live there.
The 180-kilometre Pohorje-Kozjak Circular Trail reveals a wealth of hidden natural and cultural treasures well worth taking the time to explore. Along the way, you can take a break, sample some local delicacies and chat with the hospitable locals.

The trail connects existing marked routes in both mountain ranges, with individual stages starting and ending at accessible points, mostly reachable by public transport or by car or bike. Visit Maribor Štajerska
