𝐑𝐨𝐛 𝐇𝐨𝐫𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚’𝐬 ‘𝐎𝐫𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐏𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞’ 𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐋𝐣𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐣𝐚𝐧𝐚

We were delighted to celebrate the opening of ‘Ordinary People’ by renowned Dutch photographer Rob Hornstra at Galerija Jakopič in Ljubljana.

For more than twenty years, Hornstra has documented everyday lives across Europe, creating a powerful and deeply human portrait of our times. At the opening, he shared reflections on his work, his inspirations and his experiences in Slovenia.

Organized in collaboration with Fotomuseum Den Haag, the exhibition features several works created in Slovenia for ‘The Europeans’, Hornstra’s long-term project with writer Arnold van Bruggen.

Ambassador Janneke Vrijland inaugurated the exhibition, highlighting how these intense portraits help us to slow down and reflect on the human dimension of our turbulent world.

Ambassador Janneke Vrijland joined the launch of this year's Polni zagona / Bike2Work campaign in Maribor, together with State Secretary Uroš Vajgl and Mayor Saša Arsenovič.

The campaign promotes healthier, cleaner, and more sustainable daily mobility. The Netherlands is a proud supporter! 🇳🇱🌷🇸🇮

Creating a cycling culture needs infrastructure and investment, but also: long term commitment, strong policies and campaigns like these to raise awareness. Beautiful and green Maribor is making great progress.

𝐇𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐲 𝐊𝐢𝐧𝐠’𝐬 𝐃𝐚𝐲! 🇳🇱

Today, we celebrate the birthday of His Majesty King Willem-Alexander and the spirit of unity, openness, and community that defines the Netherlands. On this day, our country traditionally turns a vibrant shade of orange—a symbol of joy, togetherness, and national pride.

Last week, we had the honour of celebrating this special occasion in advance at our King’s Day reception at Ljubljana Castle. Surrounded by friends, partners, and members of the diplomatic and local community, we experienced a truly memorable evening. The beautiful setting, festive orange atmosphere, and warm conversations reflected not only the spirit of King’s Day, but also the strong and growing ties between the Netherlands and Slovenia.

This year is particularly meaningful, as we mark 35 years of diplomatic relations and 25 years of the Embassy of the Netherlands in Slovenia—milestones that highlight a partnership built on shared values, cooperation, and friendship.

We are grateful to everyone who joined us and contributed to such a wonderful celebration. Your presence made the day special and reaffirmed the close connections between our countries.

This year marks 80 years of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) — a moment to reflect on its vital role in promoting peace through law.

In a complex world, a strong rules-based international order remains essential. The Netherlands is committed to upholding and strengthening this system, as reflected in its Constitution.

As the city of peace and justice, The Hague continues to play a key role — carrying both the honor and responsibility of hosting the ICJ.

This Saturday, 28 February, at 16:00, the Dutch family film 𝐋𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐣𝐞 – 𝐝𝐞 𝐟𝐢𝐥𝐦 will premiere at Kinodvor. Mestni Kino. in Ljubljana.

Based on the award-winning children’s novel Lampje by Annet Schaap, the film brings to life a poetic and adventurous story about courage, friendship, and finding your own place in the world. Set in a windswept coastal landscape, it follows young Lampje, the lighthouse keeper’s daughter, whose life changes dramatically after a stormy night at sea.

The story has already captured the hearts of readers across Europe, winning major literary awards and becoming a modern classic. The film adaptation grew out of the book’s enormous success in the Netherlands, with a creative team dedicated to preserving its magical atmosphere and emotional depth on screen:
