PO SCHODOCH - prvá časť

Dnes sme sa prvýkrát prešli po novom schodisku Zámku Kunerad. Že na fotke žiadne nevidíte?
Schodisko – podobne ako strecha zámku – malo za posledných sto rokov viacero podôb. Plány ani pozostatky toho pôvodného, ktoré dal postaviť gróf Balestrém, sa nezachovali. Ostala len jediná fotografia, na ktorej vidno časť dreveného zábradlia.
Pri povojnovej obnove vzniklo nové, majestátne schodisko z ružového mramoru, ktorým boli obložené aj okolité steny. Bolo monumentálne, no esteticky nie úplne citlivé k charakteru zámku. A napokon ani ono neprežilo posledný požiar.
Schodisko sa tak stalo ďalšou kapitolou obnovy, kde začíname úplne od začiatku. Nové musí nielen funkčne prepojiť šesť podlaží zámku, ale bude aj prvým momentom, ktorý návštevníci uvidia po vstupe do haly. Prvý dojem. Prvý pohľad nahor.
Náš architekt navrhol 16 verzií. My sme po hodinách prieskumu pridali ďalšie dve. Minulý týždeň prišiel veľký deň – zúžený výber štyroch návrhov sme si prešli virtuálne v 3D okuliaroch. Bolo to prvýkrát, čo sme sa so zatajeným dychom a s emóciami dieťaťa rozbaľujúceho vianočný darček prechádzali interiérom hotového zámku.
Presne pred piatimi rokmi sme pri –5 °C v snehu fúrikmi vyvážali suť po poslednom schodisku a netušili sme, či zvyšok zámku staticky obstojí. Predstava, že raz budeme vyberať zábradlie nového schodiska, sa vtedy zdala takmer nereálna.
V najbližších dňoch doladíme detaily a pripravíme návrh na 3D prehliadku s pamiatkármi. A potom ste na rade vy!

UP THE STAIRS #1
Today, for the first time, we walked up the new staircase of Zámok Kunerad. You can’t see it in the photo?
The staircase — much like the castle’s roof — has taken on several forms over the past hundred years. No plans or physical remains of the original staircase, built by Count von Ballestrem, have survived. Only a single photograph showing a fragment of its wooden railing.
During the post-war restoration, a new, majestic staircase was built from pink marble, with the surrounding walls clad in the same material. Monumental, yes — but not entirely sensitive to the character of the castle. And in the end, it too was lost in the last fire.
So the staircase has become another chapter of the restoration where we are starting completely from scratch. The new staircase must not only connect six floors of the castle functionally, but it will also be the very first thing visitors see when they enter the main hall. A first impression. A first glance upward.
Our architect designed 16 versions. After hours of online research, we added two more. And last week marked a big moment — we virtually walked through the four shortlisted designs using 3D headsets. For the first time, holding our breath and with the excitement of a child unwrapping a Christmas present, we walked through the interior of the finished castle.
Exactly five years ago, at –5°C, we were hauling debris from the last staircase out in wheelbarrows, unsure whether the rest of the castle would even survive structurally. The idea that one day we would be choosing the railing of a new staircase felt unreal.
In the coming days, we will fine-tune a few details and prepare the design for a 3D walkthrough with the heritage authorities. And then it will be your turn!
