Did you know? The most distinctive feature of the iconic Bankura Horse is its intricate Chandmala. Meaning "garland of moons," the Chandmala is a series of crescent-shaped ornaments that adorn the horse's neck and body. Hand-carved by artisans in Panchmura, these decorative motifs transform a simple clay figure into a symbol of devotion, craftsmanship and cultural identity. From sacred offerings to global art galleries, this centuries-old terracotta tradition continues to tell the story of India's living craft heritage.
