Madam Mariama Lowe Bangura, fondly called Mama Lowe, the President of the APC National Women’s Congress, has officially distributed funds generated from the APC Eastern Regional Women's Congress Fundraising Dinner held in Kono District. During her address, she emphasized the importance of addressing the concerns raised by women across various districts in Sierra Leone, particularly regarding access to financial resources and their experiences with microcredit institutions.
In response to these challenges, Mama Lowe initiated a regional fundraising program aimed at providing financial support to all constituency and district Women's Leaders.
She expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the Kono Women for their commitment and sacrifice in hosting a successful event. She stated, “I wish to convey my sincere appreciation. You have made me proud to call Kono my home and birthplace. I am genuinely impressed by your sincerity, honesty, commitment, and leadership.”
Mama Lowe also noted that the Eastern Region is the third to host such a fundraising dinner. However, neither the Western region nor the Northwestern region submitted reports of their fundraising events.
As part of her contribution to the various fundraising events, she donated $1,200 to the Western Region Women’s Congress, as well as 20 million old Leones each to both the Eastern Region Women’s Congress and the Northwest Regional Women’s Congress. Additionally, due to her efforts, the diaspora Women’s Congress donated $1,200 to the Northwest Region, and Musa Bangura from Minnesota donated 25 million old Leones to the Eastern Region Women’s Congress.
The disbursement of funds took place in the presence of notable figures, including Kono District Chairman Sahr Mattia, Eastern Regional Women's Leader Madam Bintu Suma, Kono District Women's Leader Madam Alice Tutu, District Organizing Secretary Madam Asmika Barrie, Deputy Women's Congress Financial Secretary Madam Kumba Kelly, Deputy Treasurer Madam Sarran Kabba, and all constituency chairladies.
Mama Lowe thanked the Regional Chairman, Hon. Maya Kaikai, the National Women’s Congress, Kono District and Constituency executives, as well as the Kailahun and Kenema Women’s Congress, for their invaluable support during this fundraising initiative.
She concluded by extending her gratitude to all sponsors and donors, emphasizing that their contributions were vital to the event's success. She expressed her hopes for their continued support for these women.
