I don’t need anybody to tell me that the current set of national executives headed by Dr Prince Harding is averse to Dr Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh. When H.E Julius Maada Bio was nominated as the flag bearer of the 2023/24, any progressive thinking SLPP member would have expected an endorsement of Dr Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh as the running mate which is consistent with him being selected as the deputy leader of the party when HE was selected as the leader of the party.
Dr Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh’s selection in 2018 by H.E Julius Maada Bio was the most strategic at the time, not only that it eliminated the rift between the then Timbo camp and the Alpha Wurie camp that I belonged to. The selection of Juldeh Jalloh scored the political goal we all needed at that time, beating the popularity of Chernoh Maju Bah of the All Peoples’ Congress.
Our proposed candidates for the running mate position in the persons of Alpha Timbo and Alpha Wurie both fell short of being able to swallow the youthful outlook and mixing of Chericoco as Chernoh Maju Bah was fondly called. Chericoco was best identified with the Fullah clan than both Alpha Timbo and Alpha Wurie. The selection of any of Alpha Wurie and Alpha Timbo would have handed the APC the upper hand in the supremacy fight for the Fullah clan.
The chase to attract the Fullah or Muslim votes is in no moribund. The SLPP still needs a respected Muslim Fullah that has a natural definition among the fullah tribe. The Fullah tribe is a very conservative clan whose actions can only be noticed by the outcomes they produce. The impact can be devastating and irreversible.
When I once said, after the 2012 election defeat to APC that ‘Julius Maada Bio is still the best bet’ many did not want to hear it. My stance on Maada (HE) was not because of consanguinity or camaraderie but borne out of pureness of heart. Today most people who hated the my position are direct beneficiaries.
I am with firm conviction that the void in naming the running mate was intentionally created for business as usual. To conjure loyalty from the incumbent and intending candidates, as usual, to open another window for exploitation and fund generation.
Why change a winning formula? Dr Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh is one of the most intelligent Vice President the country has produced. One with and SLPP pedigree, commitment, and dedication. A character that knows what his dos and don’ts are. Without his knowledge on administration, a rift would have been created between the office of the chief minister and his. Dr Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh is also Sincere Loyal Peaceful and Passionate about we succeeding but if you still want more than that and dish him, know that he that is down fears no fall.
