"When hunger speaks louder than celebration, and silence begins to sound like consent, a nation must decide whether it is fasting for faith… or starving for change.”

A powerful EID AL-FITR message from the Publicity Secretary of the All People’s Congress (APC), our very own and by extension the People’s Publicity Secretary, Honourable Alhaji Sidi Yayah Tunis:

“My fellow citizens of our beloved motherland, I bring you warm greetings as we mark the sacred feast of EID AL-FITR. Today, I stand not only in my capacity as the Publicity Secretary of the All People's Congress, but as a servant of the people—charged with the responsibility to hold the ruling government accountable, just as the APC was known to do when entrusted with power.

My fellow citizens, it is no longer a hidden truth that the ordinary man and woman in Sierra Leone can barely afford one dollar a day. This is not just an economic concern—it is a national alarm. Are we going to continue watching our beloved nation sink into hardship? I believe the answer is a resounding NO.

As we climax the blessed month of Ramadan in this year 2026, let us remember the APC in our prayers. For when the righteous govern, hope returns, dignity is restored, and smiles find their way back to the faces of the people.

The APC has Sierra Leone at heart. As the main opposition, we assure every citizen: do not lose hope. A time is coming when the tears of the ordinary Sierra Leonean will be wiped away, and the voices of the forgotten will be heard again.

As we celebrate, let us eat together, smile together—but above all, let us remain peaceful and reject violence in all its forms. Unity must not be sacrificed at the altar of frustration.

Not too far from now, the APC shall return to State House—not just to lead, but to rebuild, restore dignity, and reclaim the respect Sierra Leone deserves on the global stage.

Finally, my fellow citizens, ignore distractions. Focus on the bigger picture—the rebirth of our nation and the pride of being Sierra Leonean once again.

Happy EID AL-FITR. May Allah answer all our prayers. Ameen.”

EID-UL-FITR MESSAGE FROM AMB. ALHAJI OSMAN FODAY YANSANEH

Acting National Chairman, All Peoples Congress (APC)

As we celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr, marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan, I extend my heartfelt greetings to all Muslims and to every Sierra Leonean. This sacred occasion reminds us of sacrifice, discipline, justice, and compassion—values that stand in stark contrast to the current realities facing our nation.

The latest World Happiness Report has once again delivered a damning verdict on the state of our nation—Sierra Leone is ranked 146th out of 147 countries, making us one of the most unhappy societies on earth.
This is not just statistics—it is a national indictment.

It is a reflection of a country where hardship has become the norm, where hope is fading, and where the basic dignity of the ordinary citizen is under constant strain. From rising cost of living to shrinking opportunities, from economic stagnation to declining public trust, the signs are clear: this is a nation in distress.

The All Peoples Congress stands today not just as an opposition, but as a government-in-waiting—ready to restore hope, rebuild confidence, and return dignity and happiness to our people.

As we continue with our internal elections, this is a defining moment for our party. We must reject division, resist bitterness, and rise above factional interests. The suffering of our people demands maturity, discipline, and unity of purpose.

Let us therefore use this period to strengthen our ranks, reconcile our differences, and present a united, credible, and formidable force capable of rescuing Sierra Leone from its current state.

This Eid must mark not just the end of fasting—but the beginning of a renewed struggle for national redemption.

May Allah guide our path, strengthen our unity, and bless Sierra Leone with the leadership it so urgently deserves.

Eid Mubarak!

Amb. Alhaji Osman Foday Yansaneh
Acting National Chairman, APC.

Emotional scenes outside the Pademba Road Magistrate Court today as women angrily protested after gender advocate, Zainab Sheriff denied bail for a third time.

The female entertainer turned politician and women's advocate was arrested by the Sierra Leone Police and charged for alleged incitement and threatening language. The women who gathered in solidarity with Zainab Sheriff described today's development as another shameful episode for Sierra Leone's battered human rights record.

"We can believe that this government which openly boasts about respecting women's rights would allow a women's leader to sleep in confinement just hours before International Women's Day" said one of them.
