FIRST RESPONDERS TRAINING ON CYBERCRIME FOR SIERRA LEONE POLICE
On Friday 24th April 2025, the National Cybersecurity Coordination Centre (NC3) hosted a vital training session for Sierra Leone Police (SLP) officers at the Police Wives Association Hall Kingtom, Freetown Sierra Leone.
The training was designed as a hands-on, first responders’ training, preparing officers to face the realities of modern cyber threats. Participants engaged in technical and practical sessions that explored the evolving nature of cybercrime, the proper handling of digital evidence, offences under the Cybersecurity and Crime Act, victim-centered approaches to investigation, and the identification and preservation of evidence sources.
Guiding the officers through these sessions were seasoned experts from NC3: Mr. Redwood-Sawyer, Director of Cyber Resilience; Mr. Alex Williams, Cyber Risk Specialist; and Madam Lucy J. Allieu, Strategy and Legal Affairs Specialist.
Their combined expertise ensured that the training was both practical and deeply relevant to the challenges law enforcement faces today.
Cybercrime is no longer a distant threat, it is already impacting communities, businesses, and individuals. By continuing to equip police officers with the right skills and strategies, NC3 is strengthening Sierra Leone’s frontline defense against digital crime.
This initiative marks a significant step toward building a safer digital future, where law enforcement can protect citizens with confidence, empathy, and expertise.
