Protecting personal data protects individual freedom.
U.S. Fulbright Specialist Dylan Presman partnered with the Campaign for Human Rights and Development International, working with legal experts, journalists, government institutions, and tech stakeholders to strengthen cybersecurity and data protection in Sierra Leone.

The result: Salone's first Advocacy Toolkit on Privacy and Personal Data Protection, supported by the U.S. Fulbright Specialist Program, giving citizens and institutions practical guidance on privacy rights and responsible data use.

This partnership reflects America's lasting commitment to sharing knowledge and advancing freedom and the rule of law.

U.S. Fulbright Specialist Dr. Katrina Struloeff worked with Central University in Mile 91, Tonkolili District, on a project to strengthen teaching, research, curriculum development, quality assurance, and the responsible use of new technologies like artificial intelligence.

Through workshops and discussions, university leaders, faculty, and staff explored new teaching methods, including hands-on, project-based learning, and looked at how to build stronger research programs and better prepare students to succeed in today's competitive global economy. This work also set the stage for continued cooperation with U.S. academic and professional partners.

This partnership shows one of America's greatest strengths: investing in people, sharing knowledge, and creating opportunity through education and the free exchange of ideas.

Passport PSA for U.S. Dual Nationals!

U.S. citizens are REQUIRED to enter and depart the United States on a U.S. passport. This requirement applies equally to U.S. citizens, including children, who are dual nationals. Dual national U.S. citizens may NOT use their foreign passport to apply for an electronic travel authorization (ESTA).

The Department of Homeland Security routinely denies or cancels ESTAs for dual national U.S. citizens. If you are a U.S. citizen or national and live abroad and plan to travel to the United States, make sure you do so with a valid U.S. passport.

If your U.S. passport is expired or expires soon, renew before your trip! Passports should generally be valid at least six months after the date of entry to a foreign country.
