Our STEM program continues with students from the Fourah Bay College Junior Secondary School exploring the exciting world of science and technology through hands-on learning experiences!

Using Snap Circuits kits, the students learned how to generate electricity and build sound systems while turning classroom lessons into fun, interactive experiments. Along the way, they are developing creativity, teamwork, and critical thinking skills that have helped American businesses lead the tech industry and can shape the innovators of tomorrow.

Programs like these continue to inspire curiosity and make learning more engaging for young learners across Sierra Leone.

A brighter energy future for Sierra Leone is right around the corner!
We celebrated the United States’ 250th birthday with a special reception at the new Millennium Challenge Account (MCA) Sierra Leone office in Freetown on Thursday, May 21.

In partnership with the U.S. Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), the Embassy brought together government leaders, diplomats, and energy-sector experts ahead of the implementation of the $480M MCC Compact project designed to revolutionize the country’s power grid. Power means progress - and a future of affordable, reliable energy in Sierra Leone.

As CDA Yancey said, “Together, we are tackling the energy constraints that hold back economic growth, paving the way for a more prosperous Sierra Leone.”

For 250 years, the United States has upheld one of its founding principles: the freedom for people of all faiths to worship freely. As America marks its 250th anniversary, we reflect on the enduring importance of religious liberty, protected by the First Amendment and woven into the nation’s history and identity. Young learners from Martilie International School spent an exciting afternoon exploring the world of electronics and engineering through hands-on learning at our STEM Education on Snap Circuits program held at the American Center.

Using color-coded, snap-together components, these budding innovators built real working electronic circuits while developing creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving skills. The session introduced students to the fun and practical side of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, inspiring curiosity and innovation at an early age.
Programs like these continue to encourage young learners in Sierra Leone to explore STEM and build skills for the future.
