"Breastfeeding: For a Sustainable Start in Life – Strengthen What Works."

Yesterday, the Somaliland Scaling Up Nutrition (SL SUN) Secretariat joins the global community in commemorating World Breastfeeding Week 2026, celebrating the vital role of breastfeeding in giving every child the healthiest start in life.

This year's theme, "Breastfeeding: For a Sustainable Start in Life – Strengthen What Works," reminds us that successful breastfeeding depends on collective action. Strong health systems, supportive families and communities, breastfeeding-friendly workplaces, effective policies, and sustained investments are all essential to ensure that every mother receives the support she needs.

As we mark World Breastfeeding Week (1–7 August), SL SUN calls upon government institutions, development partners, healthcare professionals, civil society organizations, the private sector, community leaders, and families to work together to protect, promote, and support breastfeeding across Somaliland.

Together, we can build healthier children, stronger families, and a more prosperous and sustainable Somaliland.

💚 Happy World Breastfeeding Week 2026!
