As we count down to the Global Somali Diaspora Conference 2026, it is a great pleasure to announce that Hon. Muse Sheikh Omar will be joining us as one of our distinguished Panelists.
Hon. Muse Sheikh Omar is a respected Somali scholar, humanitarian, politician, and human rights advocate with extensive experience in public service, governance, and humanitarian affairs. He is the Founder and Chairman of the Daryeel National Party (Xisbiga Daryeel Qaran) and has contested the office of the President of the Federal Republic of Somalia on several occasions.
Throughout his public service career, Hon. Muse has served as a Member of the Federal Parliament of Somalia, Deputy Chairperson of the Parliamentary Committee on Human Rights and Humanitarian Affairs, Director of Refugee Affairs in the Federal Government of Somalia, and most recently as Senior Adviser to the Federal Parliament of Somalia.
Beyond government, he has worked with the United Nations, CARE International, and Reuters, and he is the Founder and Executive Director of Somali HelpAge, an international non-profit organisation dedicated to protecting the rights and wellbeing of older persons in Somalia and around the world. In recognition of his humanitarian leadership, he has also been nominated for the Global Leadership Prize 2026.
We are honoured to have Hon. Muse Sheikh Omar join the Global Somali Diaspora Conference 2026, where he will contribute to an engaging panel discussion, sharing his insights on governance, humanitarian leadership, human rights, and the important role of the Somali diaspora in shaping Somalia's future.
