Governor Dr Joseph Manytuil has today in his office at the State General Secretariat met with the leadership of Bentiu IDPs Camp, Camp counties solidarity, and the representatives of the deceased, of 19th August, 2026 incidents between the joints forces and followers of the self Proclaimed Prophet, Mr Taban Puol, in Bentiu IDPs Camp.

The camp leadership briefs His Excellency the Governor Dr Joseph Manytuil, on the prevailing security situation in the camp, describing the situation as calm and stable; the leadership applauds the swift response of the State government in restoring calm and de-escalating the clashes.

Governor Manytuil reassures the bereaved families of his administration‘s commitment to serve justice, and holds the perpetrators accountable for the lives lost, while the state government launches an investigation into the incidents.

'' It’s unfortunate and unacceptable that lives have been lost, and dozens of others wounded in the camp, including the police officer who succumbed to a knife stabbing. The people in Bentiu IDPs camp deserve peace and delivery of basic services rather than violence, as the state government is determined to fulfil its constitutional mandate.

‘’As we mourn the departed souls, my administration will continue to extend its full support to the families affected by the incidents as the state government puts more efforts to promote peace and reconciliation.

The meeting was attended by the Camp High Committee leadership, Commissioner of Rubkona County, Hon. Stephen Salam Maluit, 4th Infantry Division, Maj. Gen. Joseph Manyuat, as well as other state security apparatus.

Governor Dr Joseph Manytuil and a delegation from the National Elections Commission discussed the progress of voter education and assessed the State's electoral preparedness.

The high-level delegation, including Hon. William Kuilnyin Deng, Hon. Sarah Daniel Gatluak, and Barana Mayor, was accompanied by the Chairperson of the State Election High Committee, Hon. George Kong Gattang briefs His Excellency the Governor, Dr Joseph Manytuil, on the activities of the commission.

The delegation commended the guidance, cordial relationship and support provided by the leadership of Governor Manytuil, which has significant clear the backlog of the critical requirement, as required by the commission to fast-track the electoral process in the state.

The visiting team acknowledged the significant stability across the state, stating that a conducive environment paves the way for the smooth conduct of free, fair and credible elections that Unity State has achieved in a short span of time.

On his part, the Chairperson of the State High Election Committee appreciated the leadership of His Excellency the Governor, Dr Joseph Manytuil, for his swift response in providing a secure storage facility for electoral documents.

PANYAGAI, AUGUST 24TH 2026.

Governor Dr Joseph Manytuil, accompanied by the commanders of the security forces, led a high-level security inspection visit to military bases in Northern Field. The visit came after security reports about the suspected movement of armed criminals along the common border between Unity State and Ruweng Administrative Area.

Governor Manytuil instructed the commanders of SSPDF and organised forces at posts to remain vigilant, ready to deter any possible attack on innocent civilians and their properties regardless of the origin of the perpetrators. He added that his administration does not condone the criminals, nor impunity.

Governor Dr Joseph Manytuil said the effort is underway to strengthen security in the oil concession area; and all pastoralists in Northern Field must undergo fi****ms registration and verification to restore stability and confidence among the oil workers and foreign contractors.

Governor Manytuil stressed the importance of strategic coordination, cooperation and information sharing between the field commanders, local community and state government to enhance effective responses.

Rubkuay, Mayiandit County - August 22, 2026.

Governor Dr Joseph Manytuil arrived in Rubkuay, Mayiandit County. Upon his arrival, His Excellency the Governor joined the mourners at the residence of Late Sultan Gatmai Garang to pay his last respects, bidding his traditional sacred rites at the late's grave.

The Governor's visit aimed to convey his condolences on behalf of the people of Unity State, honouring the historical contribution of Late Sultan Gatmai toward building peace and the independence of South Sudan.

The late Sultan Gatmai Garang Dol died at the age of 107 on 20th August 2026 at his residence in Thaker, Mayendit County, Unity State.

Governor Dr Joseph Manytuil was accompanied by the state senior government officials, high-profile commanders of the organised forces, as well as the Commissioner of Koch and Leer Counties, respectively.

Governor Dr Joseph Manytuil Wejang has today in his office in the State General Secretariat met with the leadership of the Inter-Church Committee as part of the Church's stakeholders' peace engagement initiative in the State.

The delegation led by the Chairperson of the Inter-Church Committee, Rev. Peter Marol Gatjuor, presented challenges facing the organisation, including insufficient funding, Land to ease the relocation of the Inter–Church Committee's Head Office from Bentiu IDPs Camp to Bentiu Town, and the expansion of the peace initiative to the counties.

Governor Dr Joseph Manytuil re-assured his administration‘s readiness to work in collaboration with church leaders to consolidate peace across the state.
" Our people have suffered enough from the devastating flooding and armed conflict. He added that sustainable peace and reconciliation are key pillars in driving economic and social development, and the church should take the lead in this process. ’’

The Governor, Dr. Joseph Manytuil Wejang, today inspected the operational conditions of public institutions, including Rotriak Primary Healthcare Centre, as well as Rotriak Primary School in Rotriak town.

The inspection is part of His Excellency the Governor's effort to familiarise himself with operational challenges and gather firsthand information on the progress of his administration's transformation agenda, particularly in healthcare services, road infrastructure, and the education sector.

The Governor also visited Rotriak Primary Healthcare Centre, where he interacted with medical staff and patients. He also inspected the ongoing construction of eight classrooms, and offices at Rotriak Primary School to ensure the project is progressing as planned, aiming to provide students with a better learning environment that is suitable for studies even during the rainy season. This project is expected to increase school enrollment in Rotriak town.

His Excellency Dr Joseph Manytuil returned today to the State Capital, Bentiu, after a successful mission to Mayom County to assess the rehabilitation of 92 kilometres of roads Mayom, Mankien-Ajakuach road.

GOVERNOR MANYTUIL INSPECTS MAYOM, MANKIEN - AJAKUACH ROAD CONSTRUCTION.

THURSDAY 13TH, AUGUST 2026.

MANKIEN-MAYOM COUNTY - Governor Dr Joseph Manytuil Wejang has today inspected the road construction project along Mankien, Ruathnyibol, Kueryiek, and Bieh Payam to the Lol River.

The Governor's visit aims to familiarise himself with the critical challenges faced by the constructor and to engage local leaders in strengthening security along the shared corridors between Unity and Warrap States.

Governor Dr Joseph Manytuil assured the construction workers of his administration's commitment to ensuring the safety of operators and their equipment. He instructed them to speed up the construction process, backfilling the key critical cut-off points to ensure that the road becomes passable for motorists in the shortest time possible.

Governor Manytuil made a series of stopovers at Kueryier Payam and Tochlocka Boma of Biehnyang Payam, where he was welcomed by the residents alongside the roads, cheering a renewed hope, appreciating him for prioritising the road construction project.

In Kotoang, Governor Manytuil listens to testimonies from the road users, sharing the critical challenges facing them.

The merchants appreciate His Excellency Dr Joseph Manytuil 's effort in reclaiming this lifeline road linking Unity State with the Bahr El Gazal region through Ajakuach, Warrap State.

Mayom, Mankien, and Ajakuach road rehabilitation is part of a 92km road project which Governor Dr Joseph Manytuil launched last month. Once this road project is completed, it will allow movement of people, goods and services and promote inter-state trade.
