The Hon. Amb. Akuei Bona Malwal, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, met with H.E. Amb. Hazem Mamdouh Fawzy, Head of Mission of the Arab Republic of Egypt to the Republic of South Sudan, during a courtesy visit.

The meeting focused on exploring avenues to further strengthen the longstanding bilateral relations between the two sisterly countries and enhance cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

The Hon. Adut Salva Kiir Mayardit, Senior Presidential Envoy on Special Programmes returned to the capital following the conclusion to the working visit to Luanda, Republic of Angola.

The Hon. Senior Presidential Envoy participated in the 21st Extraordinary Session of the Assembly of the African Union on Conflict Prevention and Resolution in Africa, where she represented H.E. Gen. Salva Kiir Mayardit, President of the Republic of South Sudan.

The Hon. Presidential Envoy was received at Juba International Airport by Hon. Amb. Dr. James Pitia Morgan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation along with senior government officials.

The Honorable Amb. Dr. James Pitia Morgan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, met with H.E. Michael J. Adler, Ambassador of the United States of America to the Republic of South Sudan.

The meeting followed up on recent engagements between the two sides, including visa matters, diplomatic police training, and other areas of bilateral cooperation.

The two also discussed ways to further strengthen bilateral relations and advance cooperation between the Republic of South Sudan and the United States of America.

The Honorable Amb. Dr. James Pitia Morgan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, briefed members of the United Nations Mission in South Sudan and international organizations accredited to the Republic of South Sudan on the importance of observing established diplomatic rules, procedures and protocols in engagements with the Government of the Republic of South Sudan.

The Honorable Minister underscored the importance of respect for the sovereignty of the Republic of South Sudan and for the role of its institutions in the conduct of official relations. He reaffirmed the Governmentโ€™s commitment to the international instruments, norms and established practices governing diplomatic relations.

He further noted the coordinating role of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in formal engagement between the Government and international partners.

The Honorable Minister emphasised that diplomatic privileges and immunities are to be exercised with due regard for the laws, institutions and established procedures of the host state. He encouraged UN agencies and international partners to conduct their engagement with government institutions through the appropriate diplomatic channels.

The briefing provided an opportunity to clarify established diplomatic practice and reinforce the importance of proper coordination. The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to continued constructive engagement with the United Nations and other international partners, based on mutual respect, established diplomatic norms, and shared objectives.

The Senior Presidential Envoy for Special Programmes, H.E. Adut Salva Kiir Mayardit, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Hon. Amb. Dr. James Pitia Morgan, paid a courtesy visit to the Embassy of the Republic of South Sudan in Addis Ababa on Wednesday.

During the visit, Embassy staff briefed the Senior Presidential Envoy and the Minister on the Embassyโ€™s work and progress. The Senior Presidential Envoy reaffirmed her commitment to working closely with the Ministry and South Sudanโ€™s diplomatic missions abroad to strengthen the countryโ€™s diplomatic engagement.

The Senior Presidential Envoy and the Minister, together with members of the delegation and Embassy staff, also visited the President Kiir Legacy Site in Addis Ababa. The site was allocated by the Government of Ethiopia to South Sudan in recognition of President Salva Kiir Mayarditโ€™s longstanding relationship with Ethiopia and its people.

As part of the visit, the Senior Presidential Envoy and the Minister planted trees at the site as part of efforts to preserve and develop the Legacy Site.

This afternoon, the Hon. Amb. Dr. James Pitia Morgan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and his accompanied delegation arrived back in the capital after a successful working visit to the Republic of Angola.

The Hon. Minister accompanied Hon. Adut Salva Kiir Mayardit, the Senior Presidential Envoy on Special Programs, to the 21st Extraordinary Session of the Assembly of the African Union on Conflict Prevention and Resolution in Africa. During the Session of the Assembly of the African Union, the South Sudanese delegation emphasised that sustainable peace must be owned locally and supported regionally and continentally.

While in Luanda, the Honorable Minister engaged in several bilateral and multilateral engagements with Angola, Kenya, Morocco, IGAD and the AU Commission led by the Senior Presidential Envoy.

The Hon. Minister was recieved at Juba International Airport by the Hon. Amb. Akuei Bona Malwal, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and other senior government officials from the Ministry.

This afternoon, the Hon. Amb. Akuei Bona Malwal, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation met with H.E. Amb. Aleksandr Kosmodemyansky, Head of Mission of the Russian Federation to the Republic of South Sudan and his accompanied delegation.

The meeting focused on the preparations ahead of the Russia-Africa Summit scheduled to take place is Moscow between 28-30 October 2026.

The meeting was also an opportunity to review ways to further strengthen bilateral ties between the two countries and to discuss issues related to High-Level exchange visits in the near future.
