Gratitude to H.E. President Salva Kiir Mayardit for Exemplifying Unity, Humility, and Fatherly Leadership at the 43rd SPLA/M Day
To:
His Excellency Salva Kiir Mayardit
President of the Republic of South Sudan
Juba, South Sudan
Subj; Heartfelt Appreciation for Honoring Comrade William Deng Garang and Exemplifying Fatherly Leadership
Your Excellency,
I write this letter with profound emotion and respect following your address at the 43rd SPLA/M Day celebrations held on 16 May 2026 at Juba Stadium. Witnessing you speak from the heart about your wartime comrade, William Deng Garang, moved me deeply and reminded me of the values that built our nation.
Your recollection of the moment when you threw your Land Rover into the Sobat River to halt the advance of enemy forces, and your vow that “if we survived, we would buy over 1,000 cars like it,” brought to life the sacrifices, courage, and hope that carried our people to independence. More importantly, your decision to publicly honor Comrade William Deng Garang before the entire nation reflects a rare and admirable quality in leadership.
To remember, uplift, and give credit to a comrade on such a national platform is the mark of a leader who is humble, caring, and genuinely invested in the unity of his people. It is the mark of a father of the nation who does not forget those who walked the difficult road with him, and who ensures that their sacrifice remains alive in our collective memory. Your words today were not only those of a President, but of a father speaking to his children—reminding us of where we come from and the unity we must preserve.
Your Excellency, your statesmanship, patience, and commitment to keeping the spirit of the liberation alive continue to inspire confidence and hope among South Sudanese at home and abroad. You lead not only with authority, but with compassion, wisdom, and a deep sense of responsibility for every citizen. For us young South Sudanese, your remembrance gives us reason to value our history and to pursue unity above division.
I write this message out of a heartfelt and emotional experience today at the event. It is my sincere hope that this message finds someone who can convey this appreciation to you.
May Almighty God bless you with good health, wisdom, and strength in the years ahead. May you live long to see South Sudan grow in peace, dignity, and prosperity, and to continue guiding us as both President and father of the nation.
Respectfully submitted,
M. Madit Kuatdit
