A Historic Visit by the Veterans and Founders of Bilpham
Today 16th October 2025, Hon. Changkuoth Bichiock Reth, Chairperson of the Federal Democratic Party (FDP), was deeply honored to receive a historic visit from two veteran freedom fighters and co-founders of Anya-Nya II, Gen. William Deng Muang Riek and Gen. Majiek G*i Teny Kolang — the men who, together with Gen. Moses Bichiock Reath Padol, father to Hon. Changkuoth, founded Bilpham in 1976 and established Itang Refugee Camp in 1974.
The meeting was more than a reunion — it was a profound reflection on the roots of South Sudan’s liberation. The two legendary commanders shared vivid memories of the struggle, recounting how they once carried young Changkuoth as a child while his father, Gen. Moses Bichiock Reath Padol, commanded Bilpham from 1977 to 1981.
In his remarks, Hon. Changkuoth Bichiock Reth expressed deep gratitude to the veterans, describing the encounter as both emotional and inspirational.
“Today’s meeting with the veterans of the Anya–Nya II generation was not just an ordinary gathering, but rather a session with a living revolutionary library — men who carry within them the history of our struggle and the sacrifices of heroes who paved the way for today’s generation. These leaders embody the memory of the revolution and remain sources of inspiration for all who strive to build a nation founded on dignity, pride, and national unity. Listening to them is both a lesson and a tribute to a history written by men who carried the banner of freedom with faith and courage.”
Hon. Changkuoth concluded by praying that God grant the two veteran generals long life and good health, so that their legacy and wisdom continue to inspire generations to come.
