It is with profound sorrow and deep sadness that I have received the news of the passing of three respected members of our South Sudanese community:

1. Paramount Chief Manyok Deng Biar Abit, Paramount Chief of Pawuoi Payam, Twic East County, Jonglei State, who passed away on 30 July 2026.

2. Chief Mayen Manyuon Guot, father of Hon. Bol Mayen Manyuon, Secretary for Transportation of the South Sudan United Front/Army (SSUF/A), who passed away on 30 July 2026.

3. Maluil Peter Akoon, son of Hon. Peter Akoon Maluil, Secretary for Political Affairs of the South Sudan United Front/Army (SSUF/A), who passed away on 1 August 2026.

On my own behalf, and on behalf of the leadership and members of the South Sudan United Front/Army (SSUF/A), I extend my deepest condolences and heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved families, relatives, friends, and the affected communities during this difficult time.

The passing of these beloved members of our nation is a great loss. We pray that Almighty God grants eternal rest to their souls and gives strength, comfort, and patience to their families and all those mourning their loss.

On the occasion of Martyrs' Day, 30 July 2026, I pay my highest tribute and deepest respect to all the sons and daughters of South Sudan who made the ultimate sacrifice for the freedom, dignity, and independence of our nation.

Today, we remember with gratitude those who gave their lives in the hope of building a peaceful, united, and democratic South Sudan founded on justice, the rule of law, equality, and respect for the rights of all citizens.

Their sacrifices continue to inspire us to work tirelessly for a nation that embraces all its people—a country where peace prevails, development flourishes, quality education and healthcare are accessible to all, infrastructure connects our communities, and every citizen has the opportunity to live in dignity and prosperity.

On this solemn day, I also pay special tribute to the martyrs of the South Sudan United Front/Army (SSUF/A), whose courage, commitment, and sacrifice will forever remain part of our nation's history. Their memory will continue to guide us in our pursuit of peace, reconciliation, national unity, and a better future for all South Sudanese.

May the souls of all our martyrs rest in eternal peace. We remain committed to pursuing the noble ideals for which they gave their lives.

CHAIRMAN AND COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. 17/2026 A.D.

FOR THE RELIEVE FROM OFFICE, DEMOTION, AND DISMISSAL OF BRIG. GEN. MARKO KENYANG AKOON

TITLE AND COMMENCEMENT:

In exercise of the powers conferred upon me under Articles 20.3, 20.4, and 20.7 of the Constitution of the South Sudan United Front/Army (SSUF/A), 2021, and having carefully considered the findings and recommendations of the SSUF/A Investigation Committee, I, Gen. Paul Malong Awan, Chairman and Commander-in-Chief (C-IN-C) of the South Sudan United Front/Army (SSUF/A), do hereby issue the following Executive Order:

1. Brig. Gen. Marko Kenyang Akoon is hereby relieved of his position as Director General of Logistics and Procurement, with immediate effect.

2. Brig. Gen. Marko Kenyang Akoon is hereby stripped of his rank of Brigadier General and demoted to the rank of Private (PVT) in accordance with the recommendations of the Investigation Committee.

3. Private (PVT) Marko Kenyang Akoon is hereby dismissed from the membership and service of the South Sudan United Front/Army (SSUF/A), with immediate effect.

4. The Office of the Chief of General Staff and all relevant administrative authorities shall ensure the immediate implementation of this Executive Order and complete all necessary administrative procedures arising therefrom.

This Executive Order shall come into force on the date of its signature by the Chairman and Commander-in-Chief of the South Sudan United Front/Army (SSUF/A).

CONDOLENCE MESSAGE

It is with profound sorrow and deep sadness that I have received the news of the passing of His Majesty Paramount Chief Atem Anei Akol (Atem Madhum), Paramount Chief of Jorbioc Payam, Aweil North County, Northern Bahr el Ghazal State, who passed away on the morning of Tuesday, 14 July 2026, after a period of illness.

On my own behalf, and on behalf of the leadership and members of the South Sudan United Front/Army (SSUF/A), I extend my heartfelt condolences and deepest sympathies to the bereaved family, the people of Jorbioc Payam, Aweil North County, and the entire Northern Bahr el Ghazal State during this difficult time.

The late Paramount Chief Atem Anei Akol will be remembered for his dedicated service to his community, his wisdom in traditional leadership, and his commitment to peace, unity, and social harmony. His legacy will continue to inspire future generations.

MESSAGE ON THE OCCASION OF THE 9TH JULY INDEPENDENCE DAY

On the occasion of the Independence Day of the Republic of South Sudan, I extend my warmest congratulations and sincere best wishes to all the people of South Sudan, both at home and in the diaspora.

This historic day reminds us of the sacrifices made by our martyrs and all those who dedicated their lives to the realization of our nation's freedom, dignity, and self-determination. We honor their legacy and reaffirm our collective responsibility to build a peaceful, united, and prosperous South Sudan.

As we commemorate this important national occasion, let us renew our commitment to peace, reconciliation, national unity, democracy, justice, and the rule of law.

These principles remain the foundation upon which a stable and inclusive nation can be built.

Our diversity is our strength. Together, we can overcome the challenges facing our country through dialogue, mutual respect, and a shared vision for a better future for all our citizens.

I sincerely pray that this Independence Day inspires renewed hope and determination among all South Sudanese to work together for lasting peace, sustainable development, economic prosperity, and a brighter future for the generations to come.

It marks the beginning of the armed struggle and the founding of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement/Army (SPLA/M), ushering in a new phase of struggle for freedom, justice, and equality.

On this historic day, the people of South Sudan united around a common national vision aimed at ending marginalization, restoring dignity, and building a state founded on justice and equal citizenship. The journey of struggle was marked by immense sacrifices made by martyrs and the wounded, ultimately paving the way for the realization of independence in 2011.

The people of South Sudan fought under one banner and for shared objectives, guided by the belief that unity and collective effort are essential to achieving national aspirations.

Prominent field leaders during that period embodied courage and sacrifice, playing decisive roles in key operations that protected lives and advanced the course of the struggle toward the agreements that led to independence.

On this occasion, we express, on behalf of the leaders and veterans of the struggle, deep appreciation and sorrow for the immense sacrifices endured by fighters on the frontlines. Many lost their lives, while others sustained severe injuries during the years of armed struggle, including leaders and fighters who faced harsh battlefield conditions with determination and courage despite suffering multiple gunshot wounds during the liberation struggle.

We further affirm that the vision and aspirations carried by the movement during the years of struggle have not been fully realized as the people of South Sudan had hoped. Therefore, all citizens are urged to remain patient, uphold unity, and work with a spirit of national responsibility and mutual understanding to overcome the current challenges.

This anniversary serves as a moment to renew commitment to the core values of that struggle—national unity, cooperation, mutual respect, and the rejection of tribalism and division.

The South Sudan United Front/Army (SSUF/A) emphasizes that the current phase requires all citizens to strengthen social cohesion, support peace and stability, and work toward building a secure, just, and prosperous nation.

The movement also calls upon all South Sudanese to learn from the past, remain patient in the face of challenges, and work together toward a future based on peaceful coexistence and mutual respect among all communities.

Subject: Firm Response to False Claims and Misleading Justifications

The leadership of the South Sudan United Front/Army (SSUF/A) issues this firm statement in response to recent claims circulated by Atong Hassan, in which she alleges that her accusations were based on “reliable sources” and internal verification.
We categorically reject this justification.

Following direct communication between Ms. Atong Hassan and Gen. Paul Malong Awan, the Chairman and Commander-in-Chief, it has been clearly confirmed that no such allegations, discussions, or incidents have ever existed.
Furthermore, the Chairman explicitly requested that the individual who allegedly provided such information be identified and presented in Nairobi for verification. The refusal to disclose or present this so-called source is a clear indication that these claims are fabricated and lack any credibility.

This behavior demonstrates a deliberate attempt to spread falsehoods under the pretense of verification. It is misleading, irresponsible, and constitutes a serious breach of ethical standards in public communication.

Accordingly, the leadership informs all members and the general public that the individual concerned appears to be acting with ulterior motives, including personal gain through the dissemination of sensational and misleading content across media platforms. Such conduct undermines trust and damages the integrity of public discourse.

We therefore call upon all members, supporters, and concerned citizens of South Sudan who genuinely respect and support the leadership of Gen. Paul Malong Awan to demand clear evidence and accountability regarding these baseless allegations. Claims of such gravity must be supported by verifiable facts, not vague references to unnamed sources.

Failure to provide credible evidence and to retract these statements will leave the leadership with no option but to pursue appropriate measures through official channels, including relevant offices abroad.
SSUF/A remains committed to truth, institutional integrity, and responsible engagement with the public.
