Deputy Governor of Lakes State, Hon. Poth Madit Dut has today graced the International Women’s Day on behalf of Governor, H.E Lt. Gen. Rin Tueny Mabor.
Hon. Poth started by reminding the celebrants that women are the true game-changers in our today's world politics and leadership. He brought to the light that the future of this country lies in the hands of women just like in Liberia, Ethiopia and Tanzania that were and still rule by the women.
He called out women to actively participate in politics and leaders, but not in the kitchens. Poth said, for all these to happen, two things have to happen; that's eduction and political participation. That this is the only way to lift this country up from the deep chain of abject poverty.
Hon. Poth also stressed the need to protect rights of women and equality is rest assured.
He also reiterated and reconfirmed the child marriage as a crime as it’s already outlawed. " A girl child belongs to school. Any violation should be subjected to criminal procedure." Poth echoed.
" Take every girl or boy going-school to school. It’s our responsibility as a government to let school-aged boy or girl go to school. And in the meantime, It’s our collective failure that we’ve failed you to deliver services to you. It's a matter of time for things to be put into place. He emphasised.
Mama Nyacut, the first lady of the State, called out women to respect the personality of their husbands. She said, " When you're away, don't expect your husband to cover up shores work in the kitchen. You also shouldn't degrade the name of your husband in his absence. Respect him and stay in your shoes as a woman. "
She also urged parents to put girl child education as a number priority follows by agriculture for a liberated society of South Sudan.
