A Syrian opposition spokesman and a war monitor say an airstrike on a training camp in the last rebel enclave in northwestern Syria has killed over 50 fighters.

Youssef Hammoud, a spokesman for the Turkey-backed Syrian opposition groups, said the airstrike Monday is believed to have been carried out by Russia. Hammoud said it targeted a training camp in Idlib province run by Failaq al-Sham, one of the largest rebel groups in the Turkey-backed opposition.

The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, which monitors the war in Syria, said the strike killed 56 fighters and wounded nearly 50. Rescue missions are still underway, the Observatory said.

The death toll from a su***de attack on Saturday in Afghanistan's capital has risen to at least 18, with 57 people wounded, including schoolchildren, the Ministry of Interior Affairs said.

The explosion struck outside an education centre in a heavily Shia neighbourhood of western Kabul, Dasht-e-Barchi.

The ministry spokesperson, Tariq A***n, said the attacker was trying to enter the centre when he was stopped by security guards.

A***n said the casualty toll may rise further as family members of victims of the su***de bombing are still searching the several different hospitals where the wounded were taken.

No group has claimed immediate responsibility for the bombing. The Taliban rejected any connection with the attack.

At least 18 people have been killed in a truck bomb explosion in the Turkish-controlled town of Al-Bab in northwest Syria, a war monitor, activists and medics said.

The explosion on Tuesday near a bus station also wounded at least 75 people, some of them seriously, the United Kingdom-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.

Ibrahim al-Haj, a spokesman for the Syrian Civil Defence, a search-and-rescue group that operates in rebel-held parts of Syria also known as the White Helmets, said 82 people were wounded as a result of the blast.

HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – Unknown individuals bombed the gas pipeline connecting the Margada gas station with the al-Jbesa gas station in the southern countryside of Hasakah, northeastern Syria, on Thursday evening, with information about casualties still unknown.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) said that the explosion was caused by an explosive device planted by unknown individuals and led to the explosion of the gas pipeline between the city of Shaddadi and the town of Margada, south of Hasakah.

SOHR indicated the outbreak of a large fire and material damage, without any reports about casualties.

Photo of Syrian air defense missiles in Aleppo: Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR)

On Friday, Syrian state-run news SANA reported that the Israelis conducted an airstrike in the suburbs outside of Aleppo in southern Syria. The target was the town of al-Safirah where the Syrians once had a major missile production facility.

SANA quoted an unnamed military source who said that “at 1:30 am at dawn on Friday, the Zionist enemy launched an air aggression [sic] targeting the vicinity of Aleppo city with a number of missiles.”

The source added that “the army air defenses confronted the aggression and shot down the majority of the missiles.” However, the Syrian military always claims to shoot down the “majority” of incoming missiles and those boasts are generally ignored by the majority of military analysts.
