⚠️WARNING ⚠️

The Eswatini Meteorological Service has issued a warning for disruptive windy conditions expected from tonight until Wednesday. Members of the public are strongly urged to exercise extreme caution during this period.

The nation is particularly warned against playing with fire, conducting open burning, or leaving fires unattended, as strong winds can rapidly spread flames and trigger devastating veld fires that threaten lives, property, livestock, and the environment.

Motorists are advised to drive carefully, especially in areas prone to dust and reduced visibility, while communities are encouraged to secure loose structures and remain alert.

Preserving Tranquility While Fostering Commercial Vibrancy

Ezulwini, Eswatini’s "Valley of Heaven," is undergoing a major transformation under the leadership of Municipal CEO Mathokoza Shongwe. The town is currently navigating the delicate balance between maintaining its famous tranquility and fostering a Sandton-like commercial vibrancy. While the closure of the iconic Sun International Hotel was a significant economic blow, the municipality is looking toward the International Convention Centre and new "green" corporate developments to revitalize the local economy.

The strategic vision for the next decade focuses on becoming a Smart City that mirrors the efficiency of Singapore, combining modern infrastructure with environmental stewardship.

Ezulwini Municipality, in partnership with key stakeholders, successfully commemorated World Day for Occupational Safety and Health at Work with a strong focus on psychosocial well-being in the workplace. The event brought together thought leaders and employees for impactful engagements, including expert presentations, an interactive webinar, and psychosocial screenings. These initiatives created a platform for open dialogue, empowering employees with knowledge and tools to better understand and manage their mental and emotional health.

The commemoration highlighted the critical role of self-awareness, early identification of stress-related challenges, and access to support systems such as wellness programmes and counselling services. Conversations also addressed common workplace risk factors including high workloads, limited support, and communication gaps, encouraging both employers and employees to work collaboratively towards healthier work environments.

As we reflect on the day, the message is clear: prioritizing mental health is not optional is essential. By fostering supportive workplace cultures and integrating psychosocial safety into everyday practices, we can build resilient, productive, and thriving organizations for the future.
