43 Years of the Flame

On this day, 6 July, we remember a bitterly cold day in 1983, when on the banks of the Mbuluzi River, a handful of determined souls chose conviction over comfort, courage over fear and hope over silence.

Forty three years have passed, yet the flame kindled on that winter day still burns. Rivers keep flowing, seasons keep changing, but the dream of justice, dignity, freedom and equality continues to find strength in every generation that refuses to surrender.

Today we honour those who planted the seed, those who carried the torch through difficult times, and those who continue the journey. Their sacrifices remind us that history is not written by spectators, but by people willing to stand firm when the wind is coldest.

Happy 43rd Anniversary PUDEMO. May the spirit born on the banks of the Mbuluzi River continue to inspire resilience, unity and the unwavering pursuit of a fair and just society.

For over four decades, our movement has endured bans, persecution, imprisonment, exile, harassment, and the loss of countless comrades. Many gave their freedom; some paid the ultimate price. Yet the dream of a democratic Swaziland has not been extinguished.

The years have made our movement wiser, more resilient, and more determined. Every attempt to silence the call for justice has only added another chapter to our history of resistance.
The road ahead may seem uncertain, but history reminds us that no system of repression lasts forever, and no people's desire for dignity can be imprisoned indefinitely.

PUDEMO Women's League Condemns the Brutal Murder of Women

The PUDEMO Women's League is outraged and unequivocally condemns the horrific r**e and brutal killing of women allegedly committed by a man who masqueraded as a pastor. If the allegations are proven in court, these crimes represent a profound betrayal of the trust placed in those who claim to be spiritual leaders.

No woman should live in fear of violence, whether in her home, workplace, or place of worship. Churches must be sanctuaries of hope, not hunting grounds for predators.

We call on law enforcement and the justice system to ensure a thorough investigation, a fair trial and if the accused is found guilty, appropriate accountability under the law.

We also urge communities and religious institutions to remain vigilant, support survivors, and refuse to shield abusers behind titles or positions of influence.

The continued violence against women is a national crisis. Women deserve to live with dignity, safety, and freedom from fear.

The Women's League of PUDEMO is disgusted by the allegations that a person reported to be a PUDEMO member r**ed his own daughter.

If these allegations are true, this is a monstrous act that deserves the full force of the law. No political affiliation will ever excuse or protect anyone who commits violence against women or children.

We demand a swift, impartial investigation and justice for the survivor. Anyone found guilty must face the full consequences of their actions. There is no place for rapists in our movement or in our society.
