SNUS to Nurses on International Nurses Day
The Swaziland National Union of Students (SNUS) salutes every nurse in Eswatini and the whole planet. Swaziland Democratic Nurses Union
You stand at the frontline of care with courage, skill, and sacrifice. You heal, you comfort, and you defend dignity when the system fails. We are aware of the long shifts, the shortages of medication and medical equipments, and the pressure you carry with little support, and recognition.
SNUS wants to assure you that we will stand with you in the fight for fair working conditions, adequate staffing, and respect for your profession. Nursing is not just a job, it is the backbone of our nation’s health, and the livelihood of our people.
SNUS extends special appreciation to all the nurses who cared for students injured during protests actions after the barbaric acts against humanity by Tinkhundla armed forces. From the 2021 Uprisings till to date, like the recent ECOT demonstration, nurses have played a crucial role in taking care of injured students.
At ECOT while students were peacefully gathered outside the administration block in solidarity with their SNUS President during his disciplinary hearing when heavily armed police officers dispersed the gathering. Students were tear-gased, tortured, arrested and tortured with many sustaining injuries.
SNUS also calls upon all Nurses and all workers both public and private sector, to stand in unity and fight against all forms of exploitation and repression. The students union will collaborate with SWADNU and other progressive unions to demand equality and justice for the working-class in Swaziland and globally.
Thank you for taking care of our nation and for taking care of our own. Your services do not go unseen.
Happy Nurses Day
Aluta continua!
