💔 From Phiwo the Guide 💔

This beautiful soul, which appears to be a Yellow-billed Kite, lost its life after being stoned. An unnecessary and deeply painful loss.

The Yellow-billed Kite is an important bird of prey, helping control rodents and maintaining balance in our ecosystems. When such a life is taken through ignorance or cruelty, nature itself suffers.

This is why conservation education matters.
This is why we teach respect for wildlife.
This is why we must raise children who protect, not harm.

Wildlife is not the enemy.
Wildlife is not a target.
Wildlife deserves respect. 🌍🕊️

Nature reminds us who is in charge 🌧️🌊

After the rains, the river rises, powerful and alive, reshaping the land and nourishing everything downstream. What may look like destruction is also renewal, a reminder that water is the heartbeat of our ecosystems.

As guides and lovers of nature, we respect its power, read its signs, and move with wisdom. This is Africa in her raw beauty, untamed, unpredictable, and breathtaking.

📍 Stay safe, respect the river, and let nature lead.

One of my favourite moments during my guiding experience at Mbuluzi Game Reserve was witnessing this graceful giraffe feeding on a K**b Thorn (Acacia nigrescens).

Giraffes are perfectly adapted for browsing high leaves where most other herbivores can’t reach. Their long tongues (up to 45cm!) allow them to feed even on thorny trees 🌴 like this one, without getting hurt. Nature’s design is truly incredible!

Every day out in the bush teaches me something new about animal behaviour, plant ecology and the beautiful relationships that hold our ecosystems together.

🎥 Enjoy this short moment with one of Africa’s most iconic species!

While completing my Nature Site Guiding studies with the Limpopo Field Guiding Academy at Mongena Game Reserve, I had the incredible opportunity to witness this magnificent rhino up close. 🦏✨

Moments like these remind me why conservation is so important, every rhino is a symbol of resilience, strength, and the ongoing battle against poaching.

I am now based at Mbuluzi Game Reserve, where none of the Big Five occur, but the beauty of guiding is that every ecosystem has its own magic. From breathtaking landscapes to unique species, Mbuluzi continues to teach me something new every day.

Conservation is not only about the Big Five, it’s about protecting every creature, every habitat, and every story nature has to tell. Lessons in Conservation Mongena Private Game Reserve Mbuluzi Game Reserve 🇸🇿

This morning I witnessed an incredible moment — two male nyalas sizing each other up in a classic dominance display.
Through piloerection, their bodies curved, their white crest fur stood tall, and each bull tried to look bigger and more intimidating than the other.

No fighting… just pure wilderness communication.
Nature has its own way of settling disputes, and moments like this remind us how beautifully complex animal behaviour truly is. 🐾✨

A red-headed weaver’s nest was under attack as a snake slipped in to steal the chicks… but the parents didn’t give up without a fight.
Watch how the brave weavers relentlessly mob the snake as it retreats from the nest, a powerful reminder of how fiercely animals defend their young in the wild.

Raw. Real. Wild. 🌿
