Our work on the ground is taking shape

Currently, our teams are on the ground at Sicholo Avenue, Mashayitafula and Tubungu, pothole patching, cutting overgrown grass, and continuing with the concrete edge beam.

🚧 Pothole repairs mean smoother, safer journeys.
🌿 Grass cutting improves visibility and cleanliness.
🛠️ The concrete edge beam strengthens our roads and prevents erosion.

Hantavirus Awareness

As part of Council’s weekly Toolbox Talk programme, employees recently participated in an awareness session on Hantavirus, facilitated by the Senior Environmental Health Officer.

The session provided valuable insight into the disease, including how it is transmitted, common signs and symptoms, and practical measures that can be taken to reduce the risk of infection. Hantavirus is primarily spread through contact with infected rodents and their droppings, urine or saliva, making awareness and prevention essential in protecting public health.

Held every Wednesday morning, Toolbox Talk sessions create an opportunity for continuous learning, awareness and personal development, equipping employees with knowledge that supports both their wellbeing and the communities they serve.

At Matsapha, we recognise that a healthy workforce is fundamental to effective service delivery. By investing in employee awareness and education, Council continues to promote a safer, healthier and more informed workplace.

Our work on the ground continues.

Our team's hard work continues on the ground at Sicholo Road, Tubungu Township and Farm 105, cutting overgrown grass and installing a concrete edge beam.

Clear roadsides will improve visibility and safety for all road users. The concrete edge beam strengthens the road edge, prevents erosion and extends the life of the road.

Council cares, and is committed to making Matsapha clean, safe and a liveable town.

Matsapha Town Council at the forefront of climate-resilient urban planning.

Our Town Planner, Thulani Maphalala, recently served as a panel member at the symposium on "Climate-Resilient Urban Planning and Affordable Housing in Eswatini", held at the University of Eswatini's Sports Emporium, where he and the panel went into detail on urban, peri-urban and rural development, land tenure systems, affordable housing, integrated spatial planning, and environmental sustainability.

Honourable Minister for Housing and Urban Development, Apollo Maphalala, delivered a powerful address, reminding all that "housing is not merely shelter, but dignity." He outlined the Ministry's Strategic Plan 2025–2030, which aims to use innovative planning to deliver a safe and sustainable future for all Emaswati.

The event, organised by UNIGEPS (University of Eswatini Geography, Environmental Science and Planning Society), brought together key stakeholders including the Ministry of Education (represented by Mr. Lungelo J. Nhlengetfwa), the University's Vice Chancellor Professor J.M. Thwala, NDMA CEO Victor Mahlalela, EEA Executive Director Isaac Dladla, and representatives from local authorities including Manzini and Malkerns Town Council.

Matsapha Cares. That is why we remain committed to making Matsapha a liveable and sustainable investment town today and for generations to come.
